| Please tell me I did the right thing!!! Friday I took Stewy in to get neutered. I picked him up the same day. Ever since then he has had diarrhea and has vomited twice. The vet told me that it is just from the trauma of having surgery. He otherwise is acting fine but I can't help but to feel that maybe I should not have done that. Has anyone else had any other problems like this after neutering? |

I just got Stanley neutered last week. He didn't experience any diarrhea but he did throw up a few times...not anymore though..I also remember my vet telling me that if he throws up once or twice, he should be fine...sorry I can't be of much help, I hope Stewy feels better!! and don't worry, you did the right thing..there are more health benefits to get your baby neutered!

| Ive heard of them having constipation after surgery but not diahrea. I am surprised the vet didnt want to give him something for the diahrea. I wouldnt let the diahrea go on for more than 3 days without calling the vet again. They can dehydrate with diahrea and vomiting. You might want to feed him some chicken and rice. Also some canned pumpkin for the diahrea.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | You did the right thing. I have a 10-year-old who needs surgery for something called a perianal hernia because he wasn't neutered at a young enough age. The surgery is about $1,000. The vet said that's just one of the complications that can happen to unneutered males.

| I don't think he should be doing that. Call you vet to see what should be done. I hope he is ok.

| The anesthesia can throw things off a bit. Go to your drug store and get some pedialyte in the baby area of your pharmacy. It is an electrolye for babies but it works great for this type of things in dogs. GIve him about 3 cc's ( alittle less than a tsp) then again about 4 hours later. See how he does and one more dose aobut 4 - 6 hours later would be fine. That should fix it up and if it doesn't get him back to the vet. My girl was spayed on Friday and she had some diahrrea. I did that and she hasn't looked back, been fine. Three pups of mine had their first puppy vacc's Friday morning and had diahrrea the following day. I gave them pedialyte and they are fine now. Good luck. |
