| Ticks!!! Mojo is covered with those little tiny "seed" ticks!!! We were out walking and last night he was scratching, so when I checked him, his skin was almost completely brown with those little tiny (just like specks of dirt) ticks!!! He is on the K9 Advantix (for ticks, fleas and misquitoes) from the vet, but we had to get some sort of Ortho spray for pets. YUCK!!! It stinks and Mojo hates it! Anyway, no one else got them, just little Mo! I told my husband and he said that when the weather gets dry and hot, that is when they hatch out. YUCK!!!! So, we are spraying the yard today! Well, I am off to give Mojo a bath!

| It must be something down south going on cause I have the exact same thing going on here where I live (west central MS). My 13 year old got 4 off of him last week-end just from playing in the front yard, I pulled 4 or 5 off of Gage, and found one on me when I walked outside too close to the wood line in our yard! I told DH he needed to get the yard sprayed asap! So, he's sprayed it not once, but twice this week to try to kill them. And they are so small, you have to look twice to make sure if it's a tick or a speck of dirt!!! I hate them!

| That spray works good. I think it was $13 from the vet. You have to spray it on a cloth (for our smaller dogs) and rub it on them (trying to get the skin). It stinks so bad, and Mojo hates it, but it is suppose to kill them on contact. I wish that those expensive drops we buy from the vet actually kept the ticks away from our pets. We switched from Frontline Plus to K9 Advantix because it helped to repel misquitoes (which are also bad in the south) and Frontline didn't. I think it was the same price. Anyway....YUCK, YUCK, YUCK!!!!

| I use the Advantix as well but those pesky little ticks seem to be immune!!! DH is a fire fighter but on his days off, he works pest control....so the stuff he uses to spray our yard is commercial grade and it works. Only thing is, the babies can't go out in the yard for at least 3 hours after he sprays so we have to let them out to do their business then put them back in so he can spray. So far, we've not seen any more ticks. I'll have to check with my vet on that spray you are now using....thanks for the tip!

| just got this in an email Please forward to anyone with children... or hunters or dogs, etc!! thanks! A School Nurse has written the info below -- good enough to share -- And it really works!! I had a pediatrician tell me what she believes is the best way to remove a tick. This is great , because it works in those places where it's some times difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc. Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on it's own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, "It worked!" Please pass on. Everyone needs this helpful hint. "

| Just curious .... Is K9 Advantix better than Frontline Plus? And, I didn't know about these "Little" ticks. I check Oliver everyday, especially after walks, and so far so good. What do they look like? BTW - I've been using the Frontline.[/COLOR]
