First I want to thank you all for your prayers for Gucci, your all wonderful people.. I spoke with the internest today, and Gucci's bile test definetly shows liver shunt, she had a very high count. I am to keep her on the Hills prescription food and medicine until I see the surgeon in which is scheueled for next Friday. So now Gucci needs prayers that it is only a single vein and they can put the ameroid constrictor to close the vein. Please continue praying for her that she has a single shunt and that the operation will make her better. I will have to wait until next Friday to have many questions answered and it seems so far away, and I trying to think positive for I have been crying for days , it feels like I am living in the twilight zone. Please continue to pray for Gucci.. She can use all the prayers..Thank You All So Much.. Gina

Bless your heart! Of course you have our prayers. We will pray for little Gucci and ask that she be made well again. Try to take care of yourself so you don't get sick, too.

Praying for Gucci. I know how you feel, I went through this with Cali, but her shunt is internal and inoperable but the surgeon said it was mild. I still worry every time she isn't acting normal. I hope it is one external shunt that can be fixed and she will be done with it and feeling great. Keep us posted.

I am so sorry to hear of your news. Just try and stay positive if you can. My Mia has liver shunt too. They were unable to operate on hers because she has many of them and they are within her liver. You would never know that she had a problem now though. After changing her diet to hills L/D, and giving NO treats ever, she is doing great. Your baby will likely stay small (which is not a bad thing), but a very good quality of life can be achieved most of the time. Please visit livershunt.com , there you will find a wealth of information and also be able to talk online with others who are going through the exact same thing as you. I am by no means an expert on liver shunt, but have done endless research on it, so if I can be of any help please feel free to ask. I was once in your shoes and I was so grateful to so many nice people on here that took the time to answer my questions.

Look at the thread I posted under's Cherry's post about Diesel. It's very long and I don't want to repeat the post, but it is the best information I have ever come across on liver shunt. Please print out so you will be able to understand the vets and make some decisions on Gucci's care. Prayers are with you and your little one.
