| Embedded Staple??? Ok- so Tucker was healing fine from his surgery and back to his old happy self. His staples came out roughly a week ago but yesterday I noticed a small red bump/line on his incision but he was acting fine. Tonight it has gotten larger and redder. He has also been very lethargic today. Do you think it is an internal staple that is infected? Or they didn't take one out? I thought we would have for sure noticed if they had missed one! We're going to try to get him into the vet tomorrow, I hope getting it out isn't too big of a deal Does anyone know any more info on this?

| I sure hope Tucker will be fine How could they miss a stable, if they did??? I think that it might just be a little infection.

| Baby had bumps from the staples for a looooong time. Hers were scars. Now that she's getting a fatty belly, the scars are stretching! It could be from that.

| Wow that look's like you need to keep an eye on it Well I had a c-section 7 month ago and i also had stables and there were some bumps from the stables for about a month even now it is read and hurts sometimes. Does Tucker cry when you touch it? just keep her away from dirt or anything that might cause her so get infected

| he doesnt cry but he sure isnt happy when you get close to it. it looks like a puffed up red line exactly where his staples were, thats why im afraid one of his internal ones is infected i hope we get it all figured out tomorrow he doesnt seem to feel very good

| We just got home, there was a staple left in him, they had to deaden it so they could cut it out . But he is all better now The vet was very nice and didn't charge us, he said we had already spent enough on the little guy lol

| Megan, mommies usually know best when it comes to their babies. Glad to know he will be on the mend now. The vet shouldn't have even thought about charging you for their mistake!!

| Sounds to me like you have a nice vet. These little staples are sneaky little things that sometimes disappear when it's time to remove them. It's not uncommon for one to be missed with people or animals. Same thing with sutures really - I can't tell you how many times people have had to go back to the doctor because a suture that has been left behind decides to act up a little and cause some infection, etc. These are quickly taken care of too. I certainly wouldn't hold it against the vet at all -- and, if one is ever left in that does start causing a problem -it's unfortunate, but usually it's a quick fix. And - I'm sure some "hidden staples" or sutures never cause any problems - and we never know (or need to care) that they are there. I'm not so quick to criticize my vet - I appreciate so much what they do and realize that they (mine for sure) always work hard to do their best. Glad your little dog has been fixed..... Carol Jean |
