Question BREEDERS, Need help ASAP!

My girl had a litter yesturday, 2nd litter shes had, 4 babies, this labor was longer than her last. I know during labor and such they pant and etc. Well the panting hasnt stopped. At first I thought maybe she was just exhuasted, cause we both were, or maybe hot. Now I'm really getting worried cause she is still doing it. Its like breathing fast and panting like shes been running. She is eating fine, goes out to potty and takes care of the babies good. Her temp has been normal in the 101. range. Shes not acting stressed or anything. I've been given her calcium supplements since right after she whelped. Has anyone had this happen or know what it could be? I have called the ER Vet but they said I can bring her in at 1:30am, 2 hours from now because the only vet they have there is doing emergency surgery. Until then is there anything anyone could help me with or tell me?

they do pant some but if it's constant, it could be the onset of eclampsia. get her to a vet. if it is eclampsia, they can go down VERY quickly. do you have a tube of calsorb?

also, if it is eclampsia, they will have a grimace on their face. their lips will be curled back exposing their teeth. it's an ugly site...i do have a thread on it somewhere.

No I dnt have calsorb, what is it for? Well the dumb ER vet here actually said I have to wait, basically. What crappy ER is that but its the only one around me. I'm also thinking shes going to flip out when I take her to the Vet. She watches the babies real well and everyones moves, do u know if she is gonna flip out on me? It will be okay to leave the babies alone for a little while right?

It is like a constant pant. I've tried to see if she would stay away from the babies for a little while so they wouldnt nurse on her too much but she starts going nuts wanting to go back in with them.

She at times pants with her mouth open, looking out of breath like a dog that is thirsty. I've given her tons of water so I know she isnt thirsty.

do you have a heat pad or a heat lamp where you have her and the babies??? If so perhaps its too hot for mom!! just a thought!

Eclampsia signs are panting, shaking and nervious or restless behavior, if you have any combination please get her to the vet.

second thought would be, did you get xrays? are you sure you got all placenta? are you sure all the pups were born (there are no retained pups) ???

Yes I have the heat pad under a plastic bin. I too thought maybe it was too hot, so I havent been putting it on as much. Maybe I shldnt put it on at all cause its like above 70 in here? I have all diff thoughts going through my head. I'm thinking maybe retained placenta, uterine infection or eclampsia.

She lays down and lets the babies nurse just fine and cares for them, I do see her chest though moving fast.

make sure you have the heat pad on low ONLY (under the bed) and you have it ONLY on one side of the bed. Make sure there is plenty of room for mom to move to a cool side of the bed.
