| Don't go internal you don't have to. Put your thumb at the 10:00 position beside the anus and your forefinger at the 2:00 position on the other side. The glands when full will feel like a pea, one on each side. Gently squeeze and kind of milk towards the anus at the same time. Internally you would need to really know what you are doing and also need a glove and lubricant. If there is much resistance, take her to a Vet that knows what they are doing as if impacted or inverted you can rupture the gland. |

| you can actually cause more harm than good if you don't know what your doing. normally, a dog with consistent formed stools does not need this done. his anal glands may be impacted or have an infection. i have owned Yorkies all my life and have never done this (nor my vet or groomer). |

| OH my, I think it might be best for you to call her Vet. Best of luck to her.

I have never done it either, but have read so much about it, I wondered if I was neglecting something. Glad to hear it is not something that normally needs to be done. | |

| The vet did this to my puppy today,as she has been scooting too! He was so good at it she didn't even squeal. It is very smelly, but not too much came out.Not sure i would risk it myself!
