Chronic Cough Can someone please tell me how to deal with a dog that has a chronic cough due to possible trachea collapse? Antibiodics don't seem to be working cough suppressants just make her sleepy. The vet can only do so much but I know somebody out there has some home remedies or advice to ease the pain. Thank You!

How old is your baby and how long has it had the cough? My baby is 5 months old and has been thru round after round of antibiotics and still is, but I also found out from tests and xrays that he has an enlarged heart. The cough just tears me up since the day I brought him home. Since January, I have been throught this. I quit giving the childrens cough meds, he hated it and it really didn't help. The xrays did show that the trachea seemed to look fine, but not the heart. Now, what started out as kennel cough is still there, and now the heart problem. I am now having to treat with a tiny dose of lasix for all the extra fluid....ugh,! I wish you the best . I have read almost every post here at YT on coughs etc..... and it helped me so much. A wealth of knowledge from people that have been there/here before you and I. Please keep us posted.

Forgot to mention, I did use a vaporizer a few times......seemed to help when the weather was so cold outside and the heater on. For the most part, it has been many sleepless nights for he and I. The recliner makes a nice place to hold your baby at night and try to sleep. If you live in a cold climate, try the vaporizer...??

My heart goes out to you and your baby. Thanks for the info. I feel so bad. I can't believe that these little guys have so many problems from the start. How are his spirits? Is he lethargic or a runner? My prayers are with you guys.
