Heat?? I am new here and have a little girl of almost 1, she has had 1 heat, and was very needy ( or more then the usual) at that time. Today we did our regular morning thing and she woke happy and spunky, but after about 2 hours she came into my office where I was working on homework, and just began shaking and crying, she stops, if we laydown together and I rub her belley, her nose is cold and wet, and although she seems a little warm, she is not hot. I can not do anything with out her with me, she is on my lap now. I have checked for spoting, and have found none. Her last cycle was july. I am just worried, that this may not be her cycle coming back, she could be ill and I need to take her to the vet. Or this could be her PMS. I dont have alot of experence with female dogs, her first heat was my first too. The last time my male was a great indacatior of heat, but he has sence been nutered. Any advice would be great, Thank you, Jodi

Donating YT 14K Club Member | A neutered male can still have the urges and mate with a female. If she is not swollen or showing signs, I'd say that something else could be wrong. Please take her to the vet. If she is shaking, etc, that would be a big concern for me. Keep us updated and welcome to YT!

I would say to keep an eye on her and check for swelling down there as it could be the start of heat cycle. And although your male has been fixed he could very possibly still show signs of interest. If this is not the case and she keeps acting like this then maybe you should call the vet.

She will know before you do. Watch for her to lay on her back around your male....my female Yorkie does this even to my neutered Rottie. She starts doing this even before I notice swelling. You should keep a very close eye on her....swelling should start in about a week. In case you forgot, the whole process takes atleast 3 weeks. My Tiah just gets sweeter during this time. Please keep us posted as to her well-being.

Well she perked up after a few hours, and is acting like herself again, she is swolen and , very snippy with our boy, it's hard to tell with the belly thing as getting her belly rubbed is one of the things she lives for and will run up to strangers even to drop on her back and kick and leg, dying for the rub to begin. She was ill as a puppy and we almost lost her, so I guess I just got paniced. She was a gift from my husband after a hysterectomy and she is one of our kids. Now I know what yorkie PMS looks like, thank you for the help Jodi D
