| Could Tiger Be Really Sick . . . Please Help! Tiger is having really bad diahrea and I am wondering if anyone has had this experience . . . . Last week when I introduced him to a new Merrick wet "flavor" that had beef as the main ingredient, he wasn't his usual self in devouring his plate. His stool became slightly soft so I figured that was why he did not have his usual appetite. I gave him some PeptoBismal and he was eventually fine in a day or two. In fact, when we had the trip to Seattle, his stool was back to normal, although his appetite wasn't quite there. Last Monday, he continued to be uninterested with his food so I ended up opening up another grammy's potpie flavor which was his favorite and he suddenly ate every morsel and so I figured he does not care for beef. Yesterday afternoon, when he pooped, it was completely soft and had portions of clear mucuos white with a tint of red? That got me soooo worried so I gave him some pepto bismal again. He is still his energetic self though and although I am assuming he has diahrea, he somehow can control it as during the time he was in his crate he never soiled it . . . .nor did he do it in bed last night. About 1:30 am he was awake so I took him to relieve himself and again his stool was very wet and there were a couple of drops of clear mucuous . . .that got me really worried as I think it really could be blood?! Again, I gave him some pepto bismal hoping his still stool would improve this morning. It still remains wet and again 2 more drops of the clear mucuos with red tint and this time I see him scooting, which he has never done before. He would also position himself like he wanted to go but nothing would come out . . . . It is a bit early to call the vet so am hoping I can get some answers here at YT . . . . . Could it be serious? He still is in high energy drive though despite what's happening as he and I still played fetch like he normally would any other day . . . . Can someone help? |

| How old is he? Did you slowly switch the food over or all at once (slowly is recommended). Also, was there another stress for him during that time...some other change? Stress can bring this on also. You can take a stool sample to the vet and skip the office visit fee since he seems to be doing well otherwise (my vet charges I think $10). Check his gums....if they look too white or too light pink, he has worms or is being drained nutritionally from something else). Some slime occassionally is normal....pink/red is not. However, you are feeding him pink Pepto....that may or may not be the culprit. Hope your little boy is back to normal in no time. Please let us know. In addition, since he has been getting the runs frequently, please supplement him with some Nutrical and make sure he gets plenty of water and doesn't become dehydrated or get low blood sugar. |

| After this length of time and it hasn't cleared up, I would definitly take him to the vet. I might just be nothing, but it would be worth the money just for the piece of mind. |

| Chachi had diahrea with blood in it and the vet wasnt concerned. He gave m e meds for the diahrea and after a couple of days iit was gone. Blood in the stool can be some serious things though and i would take him to the vet.

| Chelsie had exactly that after she had a trachea scope done. She was terrified to be in a vet hospital again~ They told me it was stress collitis. It went away fairly quickly. Has he had any kind of stress? Kara |

| Yes, please let us know what you find out but try not to worry too much. Izzy B. does the same thing from time to time - the first time was when we changed her over to the liver shunt diet (the vet thought she might have it,but ended up not). The vet was not too concerned, had me give her a little bit of liquid Imodium and boiled chicken, yogurt, rice and she got over it very quickly. She has done this one or two more times for no reason but as soon as I give her the Imodium it stops. She recently had the diarrheal stool with mucus without the blood and I knew it was because she was eating too much "junk" food!!! (Treats). We know your baby will be fine - keep us posted!!! | I guess I am not familiar with Merrick food. I feed a little bit of Little Cesars every couple of days when I notice both my girls not eating their dry food real well. Izzy B, my 5-1/2 month old used to love cottage cheese but now she won't eat it much - but my 3 year old loves it and sneaks in and eats it off of Izzy B.'s plate and now she is starting to really get chunky!!! But Emmie, my 3 year old, never, ever gets diarrhea. She will vomit from time to time but her stools are always okay. Barbara and the girls
