Whelping Does the placenta follow right after the puppy? What does the placenta look like? My yorkie is in the middle of whelping but i haven't seen placenta yet. Also is it normal to have a lot of green? Judy

I am no expert, but I believe the green is just a sign of the baby separating from the placenta so if you have a baby or two and then the green, no problem; however if you see green and have no babies the babies need to be born fairly quickly or they will suffocate. It is not uncommon to have two babies and then be followed by the placentas. Keep us posted.

| Deep green is a good indication of a pup in trouble.....I would definitely get her to a vet quickly. Sounds like possible trouble, especially if a good amount of time has passed and no pup. Best of luck to you.

whelping DURING and AFTER whelping green is NOT bad...wait until the pups are all born take her for a vet check to make sure all is well..a shot will clean her out. IF you see a green discharge BEFORE whelping that is a proble..means a placenta has separated. Best wishes

Thanks. It's morning now and 9 pups later all fine. She is a large yorkie around 14 pounds. She is also a chocolate and i had no intentions of breeding her because of her flaws. But a miniture collie tore off part of my wood fence and got in with her. Her temp is 103. so i will be taking her in today.
