YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Make sure your vet knows about the choking incident. I believe it is important given an upcoming surgery. You definitely want her lungs to be clear and an unobstructed airway. Make sure you also have pre op blood work including. A bats done.. You want to make sure liver function is strong.

I am concerned about having surgery at a vets. I will search up an ortho. vet now. Any advice is much appreciated! It is always nice to be able to throw a line out to you all. Makes things better. Thanks! |

Thank you Gemy! So very thoughtful of you. I should have mentioned that we live in B.C. Apologies on that. The last 24 hrs. have just flown by and with many phone calls back and forth to two vets, I took Bailey in this afternoon and he is ready to be picked up at 7pm. Can't wait to see him. Of course I worked in between all of this too! I was a bit disappointed to hear that a good vet should be able to feel for the lp and wouldn't need to have the xrays and thus, would have saved me $175! This vet was not my first choice, however my daughter was walking him when it happened, while I was on my way for dinner with a friend, and she took him to one of our local vets. My first choice is a vet in the next city and would have meant a 20 minute drive instead of a 5 minute one. Being very upset, she made the best choice at the time. As I hadn't yet reached the place I was going to have dinner, and hearing my daughter's very distressed voice on the phone, I turned around, dropped off my friend and came right home. Had pizza instead. This morning I phoned my 1st choice and true to their nature, were wonderful and made time for the surgery today. The other vet wouldn't have been that quick... and the surgery would have cost at least a few hundred more. Fingers crossed that I made the best choice. One never knows for sure, but I thought it the best one at the time. I was assured that my 1st choice has had a lot of history in this type of surgery. Not finding an ortho nearby narrowed my choices. Thanks again!! | |

| Martini the 13 year old Hello all, I am so glad I came across this forum. I have a 13 year old Yorkie named Martini that looks and acts like he is 4!!! My poor pup jumped off the bed yesterday (which is normal) he loves to run and jump. But my little guy was limping on 3 legs. The back left leg is the injured one. He did not squeal and does not seem to be in any pain? After doing research I think he has LP. In all 13 years he has been very healthy. Only one other time about 5-7 years ago he was limping for about 1-2 hours then was back to normal. After a day passed the limping continued so I started to get a little worried. I am taking him to the vet tomorrow. My question For everyone is does the vet simply pop the knee back into place? Surgery is not an option at his age I do not want to put him through it. It hurts too seem him limping around and makes me sad but since he is not in pain I guess that eases the stress.. What is everyone's experiences. I have seen lots of posts about younger Yorkies. I just want too see him better love you all and love all yorkies I am glad I found this forum |

| How nice that yours isn't in any pain. As you've read, mine was. By now you've seen your vet. What was the outcome and how is your Martini these past few days? All the best! |

| Our yorkie had luxating patella many years ago on both of his knees. He is doing fine and never had any more problems with his knees. Our maltese has 2nd stage on her left knee, no surgery is required. She is doing fine with her knees too. |
