Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali is in heat and eating very little except for her butter cookie treats. She is playing some but sleeping more. She did have dry heaves this morning, probably from not eating enough. I have been giving her Nutrical to keep her sugar level up. Has anyone experienced this with a first heat? She is definately not herself but I'm not sure that she if I should take her in to the vet. I generally err on the side of caution but she does seem normal some of the time. Also, my mother has been sick all week so I have been in and out a lot and she seems to be upset about this. Any advice is appreciated.

| Hi, How old is Cali? I love to see her picture anytime I read a post. Sooooooo cute! Anyway, I have been wondering if my baby is close to her first heat too. She is acting very spooked like, and drinking a ton of water and peeing. That being said, I don't even want to think of what else could be wrong with yet another pup of mine. If she has diabetes, I think I will just dig a hole and lay in it and cover myself. I lost my first Yorkie to diabetes, and since then that is one of the first tests that I have run on my babies. This is the first time I have ever owned a female dog and I do not know what to expect when this comes. I have been trying to prepare myself and reading everything. I hope someone comes along and advises. Oh I could just kiss your little baby Cali all up. just adorable! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Thanks! Cali is 8 1/2 months old. She started acting weird about a week or so ago, she wanted to go outside which she is pee pee pad trained and rarely goes outside due to weather here. She wanted to just sit out there and look around. She is peeing and drinking a little more than usual but hardly eating. I have to kep trying different foods to get her to eat. She is more clingy and has had the dry heaves 2 times this week. I just had her to the vet on Monday for a sore on her mouth but I may need to take her back. It seems like I can't go 2 weeks without a vet visit! I am so worried about her and mad at myself for not having her spayed sooner. I was too afraid because she has had so many health issues lately. I hope you little girl is ok.

| Oh that's right, your little girl had that cough for so long right? I think it was your post I read that made me feel somewhat better when I first joined and was searching kennel cough. Does she still have that cough? My vet told me that he has seen it last anywhere from 6 months to sometimes a year............oh my, I cannot imagine this cough lasting for a year. It is such a strain on them. I had the trachea exam on my boy and it is in great shape, no problem there. Just the cough and enlarged heart....... JUST....................??? Peachy! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Yes both Cali and Maya had it for 3 months and then it just stopped. Cali has also tested high on her Bile acid test for Liver Shunt and when she is spayed will have a liver biopsy to confirm or rule out Liver Shunt and MVD. She means so much to me and she seems to be constantly sick. I have learned so much from YT and now know what to ask a Breeder before getting another one.

| Wow, it just stopped? Great! The other medical problems Cali has are as scary as my baby........yep, I too have learned sooooo much from YT. Today, it is not enough to just "LOVE THE BREED".........We have to play detective, doctor and POLICE! I had always heard the little ones tended to have more health problems, it's true! I guess it is pure luck to get a tiny one that doens't have medical issues. Next time, I don't care how far I have to travel, or how long it takes........my next baby will have lots of credentials backing him/her/breeder up! It's not the money, it's the LIFE! I do hope your Cali gets stronger every day, as well as my own; and we can then give hope to others on down the line here! |
