No Longer a Member | Goat Boy Strikes Again... I think Giz is trying to use up another of his lives. Couple of days ago I took a hard piece of plastic away from him that he found on the floor. It was the end of a highlighter pen, all chewed up. He must have swallowed some because he just threw up some blood tinged mucus and shortly after pooed outside. When he came in I wiped his lil butt with white tp and was blood there too. Vet opens in in fourty five minutes so we are getting ready to go. He looks like he feels so bad and won't eat. Did drink a little after being sick once. Gave him his Reglan but no results. So we're off. |

No Longer a Member | Thank you for you're well wishes, it was very sweet. When I got Giz to the vet and while he was drawing blood Gizmo started bleeding profusely from the back end. It was so pittiful. I was crying, Giz was crying..The doc scooped him up and took him in the back and is in intensive care as of now. After he ran the blood work he said he was very dehydrated just since last night and was guessing something to the effect of Hemoragic Gastro something. My baby is up there all alone and never been a cage in his life. I am beside myself. When I called for the fourth time today I asked for the doctor and if Giz was going to be ok. He said he felt he would make it but it would take time on the IV and meds. He said Giz hasn't been bleeding anymore and has stopped throwing up. Going to be hard to sleep alone tonight, Gizmo got a big pain shot and is "comfortable". Man this sucks. It's nice to know someone cares, thanks for that. |

| Maybe you could call-up the vet and ask if you could talk to Gizmo over the phone! All they could say is no. These little goats eat everything. I hope Gizmo comes home soon. You are a good mommy. |

No Longer a Member | Gizmo came home from the hospital today. He's still not 100% but he is better. He was sooo glad to see me and the nurses said "This is one spoiled baby". That's ok, he's all mine. He was diagnosed with HGE, and it was even worse than the Pancreatitis he had last year. I have to watch him close, he doesn't care much for the prescription dog food but is drinking the Pedialite. He will be on meds for a while. For the ones that inquired, it was appreciated. I would suggest reading up on HGE to familiar yourself with it should you ever need the information. It is a fast progressing disease that has to be caught quick, and in our case was just in time. ~God bless. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | That's so sad and so scary. So the HGE has nothing to do with the plastic? I read up a little on it, and it sounds like it's treatable but miserable for the little guys. Good luck! For what it's worth, Eddie was a goat too when he was younger, but the more chew toys we bought him, the less he started looking for bad things to chew. I hardly ever catch him with something he's not supposed to have any more. Try bully sticks, hooves, nylabones, kongs. The more the better.

| Poor Goat Boy!!! How's Gizmo feeling today?? Poor baby, sorry I missed this thread until now. Hope YOU are feeling better, too, Mom!! My Jasper had HGE near the end of his little life. Poor guy, we nursed him back, but when Angel died, he just did not care anymore. We lost him shortly after that. I sure am happy that things turned out so well for Gizmo!! Now Baby Goat, BACK AWAY FROM THE PLASTIC!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Poor baby! I'm glad he's feeling better. A few weeks ago when Cali was in with bloddy diahrea and vomiting I had never left here either and I was so scared. When I called to check on her, she was at a 24 hour er vet, they said she was alert and getting alot of attention from the staff. so I think we take it harder then them when we have to leave them.
