Vomiting.. but why?

Hi, I am a new member here and have a question. Zoey is 3 months old and the last few nights has been vomiting while sleeping in her crate. Last night it was 3-4 times. I finally got her up, gave her a bit of Karo syrup and a little babyfood turkey. She went back to sleep for a few hours and then I woke up at 6, hearing her throwing up again. She doesn't have any signs of sickness like diarrhea or lethargy. She is eathing her dogfood and the same treats she's always had. She sleeps in a crate by our bed and had been sleeping all night til this started. I originally thought it was because she had to go potty and vomited instead, but the other night, my daughter was sleeping by her on the couch, and she started. Please help!

She could be vommiting because she has a slight upset stomach or something more serious. If it keeps up get her to a vet to be checked out.

you need to do is fast the animal for 24 hours. It really isn’t hard on the animal - just us!. Don’t let them beg you out of some treats! It’s necessary to let their system clear whatever caused the problem in the first place by not putting more in. Keep lots of water available through out this time. If they gulp water and then vomit it all back up, give ice cubes instead. This will limit the amount of water they can get at one time.

Once the animal has fasted for a day, they should have their system cleaned out and you can very slowly bring them back up to a normal eating schedule. Just start out slow. And keep the foods bland at first. Try some cooked rice with boiled chicken or cottage cheese. You can slowly mix back in the regular food within a couple of days. Adding digestive enzymes to the food will greatly help in digestion thereafter.

A chronic upset stomach can many times be a sign of intolerance or allergy to a food. Natural diets free of preservatives and substandard ingredients can go a long way to curing an animal of persistent nausea and vomiting

It could be that Zoey has a hairball in her throat, and its vomiting to try and get rid of it, or it could be a reaction to food perhaps?
If she's still eating, it shouldnt be anything too serious, but i'd recommend seeing a vet, just to be on the safe side.

I think that a vet visit would not hurt. Just to be safe!

If she has been getting sick for over 48 hours as you state she has then I would have a vet check her out.

She is on Innova puppy food with a few treats of cheese and carrots. Last night, I only heard her once and I think I caught her and took her potty before she actually threw up. I'm wondering if she has to go to the bathroom so bad that she vomits. Is that possible? Has anyone else experienced this? She used to whine a little when she needed out of her crate but she doesn't anymore. After I took her potty at 2:00 am, she was fine til I got her out at 7:30. Never heard a peep out of her. Strange to me! I tried to get her up at 12:00 when I went to bed, but she was too tired! Also, what about mushrooms in the grass, could that cause this? Although I would think it would cause vomiting throughout the day also, not just at night!

Maybe take her off the carrots for awhile. Mine throw up if they eat uncooked carrots..Just a thought..but this is not normal and I would talk to the vet about it.

I think I would go ahead and call the vet, he may reccomend something that you can do at home, or you may have to go in. Good luck, and please let us know what happened.

I just had Jeter to the vet on Monday for the same exact thing. He was vomiting at night. No food would come up, just bile. The vet switched him to boiled hamburger and rice for 4 days and then switched his food to Eukenuba Low-Residue. He hasn't thrown up again since Monday. He also put him on an antibiotic. A vet visit would be a good idea. Just to make sure there is nothing serious going on. Hope your baby feels better soon.

I took Zoey to the vet yesterday for her shots and asked him about the vomiting. After checking her out, he decided it was probably just her eating misc off the carpet or whatever. Nothing seems wrong. Maybe mushrooms in the grass, who knows. She didnt vomit last night or the night before. Thank goodness. Zoey must just have a finicky stomache. Thanks for all your help.

Very glad to hear Zoey is healthy. It sure does make you panic when you don't know what is wrong.
