| 3 Hour ER Vet Trip Well, we have had such a fun night. We (me, Trixie and a friend) just got back from a lovely trip to the doggy ER tonight. Shortly after I got home, Trixie got a bad case of the runs all over the kitchen. And the living room. And the hall. (It's like she was trying to outrun it ) The worst part is, it was mostly blood. Ah, what fun. So we spent 3 hours at the emergency vet having test run. Well, she didn't have any parasites or bacteria and they said it's almost like she ingested rat poison. OK, we have NEVER bought rat or insect poison and she stays in the house, so that wasn't it. They said she was dehydrated, which I could tell when we left and an inflamed intestine. Said more than likely she'd come across a plant or something foriegn outside. So an IV full of fluids and a perscription for anti-inflamatories later, we are back home where we will be eating chicken and rice for the next couple of days. Don't you all wish you had had this much fun too? |

| OMG I just went through something very similar. I just picked up a new pup on Friday, last week. Saturday morning this poor little girl's stomach was growling and such a bad case of diarrhea I have ever seen... Then the blood started. Chloe is 4 months old and has had all her vaccinations. So off to the vet's office... She had a really bad intestinal infection. Poor girl.. They put her on two antibotics mixed into Albon. By the next morning her stools were already firming up and no blood. Chloe is doing much better. Hope all goes well for Trixie, I will be praying for Trixie a speedy recovery.

| Poor little Trixi, isn't it incredible the amount that can come out of these little ones I hope with the meds she is feeling better and I know you are. All I can say is thank goodness for Albon.

| Sue--Hopefully she will have as speedy a recovery as your little one. They said it was almost like she had upset stomach and it'd caused her intestine to become inflamed. Our luck, our regular vet answered her cell...from out of town! This was our back-up, works close w/ our reg...we have seen them before. She is just laying here staring at me. Gonna put extra blankets on the bed tonight. My sis is coming to stay w/ her tomorrow. And all this after 13 1/2 hrs at work today! Geeze...could we have some more excitement, please? |

| Are you Aware of ? Canine Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis? Not that this your case. I wish I had a link to this info. But I will quote from Dale Heisler DVM at AVMA. "There are very few people that have owned Yorkshire Terriers for any length of time that have not experienced this disease. One of my own dogs had this several years ago, so I speak from personal experience. Hemorrhagic gastroenteritis(HGE) is a peracute (excessively sudden) hemorrhagic enteritis (intestinal infection) characterized by vomitting that may include blood, severe bloody diarrhea and rapid dehydration." And so on. My friends Yorkie came down with this just a few weeks ago and just barely made it. If you need more info maybe I can e-mail it to you.

| Aww, bless Trixie's little heart! That sucks for you too....what a mess! Sully got diarhea (sp?) for the 1st time since our big move this past week in two different places in my living room on our new berber carpet. YUCK!!!! My friends with kids laugh at me for being grossed out and say I don't even want to know how gross it gets in parenthood, LOL!!! But still it was gross. Luckily it was just a one-day thing for Sully and he was back to eating normal by dinnertime that day.
