| My yorkie acts sick - help if you can Cricket is 7 months old. She is up to date on shots, was spayed in Dec. She weighs 1lb 14ozs as of yesterday. Her appetite is good. Her poop and pee is normal. Now my problem. She acts as if she's sore and it hurts to walk. A couple of times she will be laying in her bed and start whinning as if she is in pain. I have taken her to the vet 3 times and he can't find anything wrong. He put her on an antibotic 10 days ago just in case there was and infection somewhere and pain med. She still has these symptoms so he did bloodwork yesterday and everything is normal. No infection, livernormal, kidneys normal, and calcium was normal. Is there a separate test for liver shunt or is it just a routine test. Her balance seems to be off sometimes and she walks funny at times just like maybe she's sore. I am to call him back this afternoon to let him know how she is today but she is no better. Nothing has happened to her that I know of. She doesn't jump on the furniture and hasn't fallen or had anything happen to her to cause this. I am so worried about her and am doing everything I can think of. Has this ever happened to any of you? Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Judy |

| I dont know what could possibly be wrong but something definitely is. She shouldnt be in pain and be so unsteady. Maybe you need to go to another vet.

| Yeah, I would think about getting a second opinion. She shouldn't be whining like that and walking unsteady...that definitely implies that something isn't right. Hopefully it's just something minor and she'll be back to normal ASAP! Best of luck to you!

| Did he check the bile acid count ? If elevated this could show problems with the liver. |

| She doesn't cry often only twice and the last time she whinned was Sat. but there is deffinately something wrong. I don't know what all he tested for but I will ask him about the bile acid count. Since she's eating good I thought maybe she pulled a muscle or something and time would make it better but 10 days is along time for me. She just walks like she's sore. Thanks everyone for your advise. I am calling him now aand will let you know what he says. He is a great vet and has been in practice a long time but if I need to I will take her to Dallas if necessary. I want to find out answers. Judy |

| I just talked to the vet and he said her routine bloodwork looked good but he wanted to do a acid bile test in the morning. So, I have her scheduled in the morning at 9:00. Please say a little prayer for her. She is the love of my life and it would just kill me if something happened to her. Thanks for your help!!!!! Judy |

I took her to vet and they did all blood work including liver shunt test and they were all normal, they expressed her anal glands and sent her home with pain meds. We were gonna do xrays when we spay of legss and hips in couple weeks. I began to pray and I annointed her with oil and prayed for God to touch her by sunday morn she was a new dog totally HEALED!!! I dont know if ya beleive in this or not but it is true and God can and will do it for you I will be paying for you and your baby keep us posted

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I will say a prayer for your baby! Cali had 2 bile acid tests last week. The first one was high at 90 and the second one was down to 32 so they did an ultrasound and said they didn't think it was a liver shunt. We still don't know what caused the weird neurological episode and the vomiting and diahrrea.

| I guess this is what has me so puzzled. She acts normal in everyway except she walks like she is sore. She doesn't yelp when picked up, since she is so little she doesn't jump up on furniture or off of anything. I haven't tripped over her to cause her to be sore but she sure seems to be. Something has to be wrong because of the two whinning episodes. Don't you just wish they could tell you when they feel bad? She even has times when she wants to play but acts like something hurts. Keep the good thoughts coming and pray everything is okay tomorrow. Judy |

| When Louie was about 6 months old I had taken him to a diner at my sisters house. I was with him the whole time right by his side....no one stepped on him or anything but by the end of the night he was walking with his back leg up. He did this for a feww days. He would run like that and play. I could move the leg and he would not cry or anything...The vet said it was probobly a little strain. Good luck

| If you decide to take her for a second opinion, there is a wonderful vet in Burleson. She is so through and so caring and takes her time. |
