| Nervous mom, my baby's first surgery! I cannot concentrate at work I am so worried about my baby. She is getting spayed as I write this, and I so nervous. She is such a little girl that I know spaying is right for her because she is too little to have puppies (not even 4 pounds) but I am afraid of the anesthesia. She's also having 10 teeth pulled because she never lost most of her baby teeth and currently has "shark teeth" because her adult teeth have come in behind her baby ones. They say she may need stitches in her mouth too. My poor girl is going to be sore on both ends! Does anyone have any advice on what to do/ expect when I pick her up tonight? What do I feed her espcically since she'll have a sore mouth? Chicken, rice and cottage cheese? Canned food? Help! This is my first littel one and it's obvious I am the typical paranoid/ overprotective mommy.

| Awww hunny Im thinking about you and your baby. I know how scary it is whenever these little guys have to have something done I hate it. Are you going to be able to pick her up today? If so, just think of all the nice cuddle time you can have with her. She will probobly be very sleepy when she gets home but should be her old self in a couple of days. Try not to worry too too much.

| I know its not like this with all babys but i just had mine spayed last tue and she came home like nothing had ever happened. She had 6 teeth pulled but didnt need stiches for that. She is still on pain meds but i dont think she needs them.I think that your baby will do fine.Just relax and soon you will be there to pick her up.I might keep some canned dog food around in case her mouth bothers her.She MIGHT be sleepy or not wanting to move a whole lot the 1st couple of days or so.I do think she'll do just great though.Good luck and keep us posted.

| My thoughts are with you!! Looks like we are in the same boat!! My Pippa is also being spayed today and i am sooo nervous too. I nearly cancelled at the last minute but i know its the right thing to do for my baby but that doesn't make any less a worry. I have tried to keep busy, shopping, dentist, visiting my mum but am now back at home just waiting so where else would i find someone who knows how i feel but here on YT. I have just spoken to the vet and he says she is still asleep and to phone back again in couple of hours!!! We will be reunited with our baby later today and i can't wait.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I hope both of your babies are safe at home now. I can't get myself to have Cali spayed yet. She has been sick recently and I want to wait till she's had a chance to recuperate.

| We took Punkin in yesterday to be spayed. I was a nervous wreck all day and shed a few tears in the car after we dropped her off. I was worried she thought we abandoned her. She was very dopey when we brought her home, but so happy to see us. Her eyes are perkier this morning - but she is still pretty beat. She was very hungry when we brought her home, but I gave her food in small portions as I didn't want her to gulp it down. I saw a suggestion somewhere on here about getting a onesie so she wouldn't dig at her stitches. It was a great idea. It fits perfect and she can't get at those stitches although she has tried. |

| I am sure your girl will do just fine. My Jewels was spayed microchipped and had 4 teeth removed.. She was disoriented the night we brought her home but was fine by the next day. Keep us updated on how she does.

| 1st I'd give her a little spot of nutrical when you get her home. I'd have some strained baby food - turkey and rice is always good, and a soft spoon like they use for babies and you can let her lick it or spoon a bit into her mouth. Soft food should be okay - no kibble until you can tell her mouth doesn't hurt anymore (when she starts chewing on toys again probably). ASK THE VET too. Make sure you take home pain meds just in case. I gave mine her pain meds for at least 5 days for the teeth. I put mine in a t-shirt so they don't mess with stitches or lick the spots. Usually they are back to normal from spaying in 24 hours except for itchies, and teeth in about 4 days has been my experience... If I were you - I'd call the vet now and have them type up a "things you can do" list. My vet did this. My little Elvira gets spayed at the end of this month at 4 pounds too.

| Picked Pippa up at 4.45pm and when i saw her i cried. She looked awful, all dopey and disorientated. She was moaning for a while which upset me even more. Forgot to say in earlier post she was having dew claws removed too as she had caught one before, so her paws are all swabbed too. She looks a sorry sight bless her and i was questioning my decision on having this done as the guilt i feel for putting her thru this is immense. It is now 8.10pm and she is fast asleep after having a little light dinner. I am hoping she will look and feel better tomorrow.

| I know how you feel, my gizmo had eight teeth pulled on this past monday. He only weighs 3lbs 3oz. I was so scared. I called the vet right after I dropped him off to check on him. Then I called later on again, and again! Are they going to call you after the surgery is over? If not, I would call and ask them too. Just so that you know everything if fine. Im sure it will be fine, and she will do good with recovery. Please keep us posted on how she does! I will say a little prayer for her today!

| Guess I should have read on before posting! LOL Anyway, I am very glad to hear that she is doing much better! I could have sworn gizmo was mad at me when I brought him home. He acted all sore, and peed all over the carpet! But five minutes later when a friend came over, he ran right to her, and wanted to play!
