| Daisey is having siezures I was looking for information on what might be causing the siezures in daisey? She is 8 months old and weighs about 1 3/4 lbs . She has been having siezures off and on for about a month now becoming more and more frequent last night from about 9 till 4:30 this morning she has had five and each one has become worse she is yelpong during them wetting herself and has lost all control of her body and after the siezures subside she is keeps licking like her mouth is dry and shivers pretty badly. I want to take her to the vet but I don't really have alot of options living in rural Texas most of the vets are big animal doc. cattle, horses. etc.... Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OH NO !! I'm so sorry to hear this - poor baby ! I would for SURE find a vet that you can get her to ASAP - you don't want to fool around with this - it sounds like it could be serious ..and it may be something they can treat - but if I were in your position - I would go straight to the vet !! Good luck - is there an emergency vet open on the weekend somewhere ? It would be worth the drive to save her life |

| Even living in a rural area you MUST be within driving distance to a small animal vet. This little baby is in SERIOUS need of vet care, like today. My suggestion is that you get her to a veterinarian immediatly, OMG, can YOU imagine having 5 siezures in a row????? Nobody here can give you information on what is wrong, we can only guess and your little yorkie is long past the stage where guessing is a good idea. PLEASE take her to a vet today and don't make her suffer thru any more of these nights. She is very tiny and does not have alot of reserves, if this continues you could and probably will lose her. I am sorry to be so blunt but you are in a situation now where you HAVE to get her to a vet. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Hi ! I'm in Houston...and while I do live in the city ...there are ER Vets open on SAT AND SUNDAY nights - I think many vets are open early SAT morning till about 1pm....I would seriously consider making some calls and finding out where you can go... because each seizure will take a little more out of her and you really could lose her to this.... .I don't want to scare you but this is something that really could be deadly and I wouldn't fool around with it or wait... Wish you the best of luck - Have you tried NUTRICAL when she is shaking - most all pet stores carry this and if you see her going into an episode it MAY help if it's due to low blood sugar...She's very very small...but this sounds like something more than that....Keep looking - you may find an Emergency Vet in Amarillo - I can't imagine them not having one - |

| There are quite a few vets in Amarillo, an hr and a half is not that far in a situation like this. The one I posted is an emergency clinic but you might find another vet with office hrs n Sat. At this point I would just go to whoever is open for sure. ER vets are open all day and night though so you can surely get her there. |
