My five year old yorkie Jordy also has seizures much the same as you have described. He has had them off and on for three years. Our vet did not recommend medication in Jordy's case as the are not frequent. I know how horrible it is to see your puppy suffer. Our vet said that seizures are common in pure breds. I wish you both the best.

Hi, I have a dog that has been having seizures for about 3 years now. When we mentioned it to our vet, they said she was not having them often enough to be on any meds either. What he did recommend is that we start watching what may be setting them off, so we did and we found that giving her chicken or anything greasy (we think anyway because she has not had a seizure in over a month now), may have been what was causing the seizures. I am not a professional or anything but I have been told not to stick your fingers anywhere near their mouths because they can end up biting you by mistake and they cannot swallow their tongues. What I do is take her up in my arms and just talk to her let her know I am with her and she comes out of them. It is very scary and I am always afraid that she will not come out of one when she does have one but we try to get by day to day hoping she can add another day to be seizure free. Great info by the way about the ice packs and stuff, it is nice to find out some different things you can do to help them.

Nobody here can give you information on what is wrong, we can only guess and your little yorkie is long past the stage where guessing is a good idea. PLEASE take her to a vet today and don't make her suffer thru any more of these nights. She is very tiny and does not have alot of reserves, if this continues you could and probably will lose her.
I am sorry to be so blunt but you are in a situation now where you HAVE to get her to a vet.

I completely agree!!! Please get her to a vet!!! Let us know how it goes!! I will pray for her! And I will pray for you as well, in your search for a good doc!

For those of you who wonder - a large animal vet can often diagnose and take very good care of our little guys. And - they always have professional contacts they can consult with. (Certainly, in an emergency, I wouldn't hesitate to see one).

Large and small animals share many of the same health problems -
