| Could she be sick already OMG...I just got roxi home last night and she is acting funny. She is sleeping quite a bit and when she does walk around she isn't very active. We did go for a walk outside for about 15 minutes and she woke up a little, but still not too much. She has totally refused to eat the food her breeder sent her home on (eukaneuba) SP? So i switched to ceasars sof food and she ate about half of it. She keeps going over to her xpen and lying beside her food/water dish. I gave her some nutrical and havent noticed any difference.I went in there to check on her and she was lying there with her chin in the water. She woke up this morning at about 5AM ready to play and only played for about 45 mins. She is peeing really well and had 2 BM's since last night. No blood or diarrhea noticed. She has times when she is lying on me that I notice her breathing spped up quite a bit, which is odd while she is resting. I really dont know what is going on, could it be that she just needs to adjust to being here. Please help me!!!! oh, and another thing ... how long should I wait until i bathe her? She REALLY stinks(breeder didn't bathe her) and has flaky skin. She needs a bath but I didn't want to over stress her. Thanks-Tara porkieyorkie |

| Many babies are upset about the leaving of their mommy and litter mates. She could just be very sad and confused. Although if it continues too long you could get her checked at the vet. Always better to be safe than sorry!

| I got Sadie as an adult, and she was 2 1/2 years old. She really did not eat any of the food the breeder sent home with her. It was hard kibbles. So, I got her some soft canned food and she ate it like crazy. In fact, she ate so much canned food that she got a little hefty, so now she is back to her normal weight after putting her on diet food. I think she was just really homesick as she left her Mom and babies. Maybe this is your pups problem. Let's hope so. I know it can be scary because I had not had a dog for many years, so I was nervous to say the least. Good luck and please keep us posted. Don't hesitate to see a vet if things really don't improve.

| I would take her to your vet, just for a check-up. Discuss with him/her the symptoms she was having. Also that breeder should have bathed that baby. |

| Mr. Hobbs smelled AWEFUL when we brought him home. We waited a week to bathe him bc he seemed to be experiencing the same symptoms as your little one. You definately don't want to stress her out anymore than necessary. He was so little that we gave him nutrical every 3-4 hours, even if he DID eat...the vet said that the nutrical could not possibly hurt him, only help him...so we thought it was better to be safe than sorry. He hated nutrical, so we had to put it on our finger and put our finger in his mouth, and wipe it on the roof of his mouth. He was SO tiny, and we were literally in the vets office every single day the first week we had him...he was shaky, didn't play much, slept A LOT...now he is 4 months old and could not be happier or more playful!!!!! It just takes a while not only for the little babies to get adjusted, but you will have to get adjusted as well. We wanted to make sure he was eating enough, so we gave Mr. Hobbs wet food until he was about 3 months old, and then we weined him off of it. Now he only eats dry food...wet food is not good for their teeth! Just to be safe, take your little one to the vet. Our vet just laughed everytime he saw us...usually Mr. Hobbs was fine and the vet wouldn't charge us. However, he did come down with Kennel Cough (ironically, he probably caught it from the vet's office), which was treated and cleared up right away. They are just so little and cost A LOT of money, and you want to take all the necessary precautions. Good luck with your new little baby! She will perk up in no time, and you will wish she would calm down and take a nap!!!! |

| I would bathe her and take her to the vet to have her checked out. I always take my new yorkies to the vet the day after I get them.. just to make sure they are OK. I am sure she is fine... just confused about where she is and probably misses her littermates. Good luck with her...enjoy!!

| I took my new little (8-week old) to the vet for a well puppy checkup with I first got him. The vet told me to supplement his food with a Gerbers Chicken Stix a couple times a day. (This ended up being his favorite food.) And, he told me to give him a tablespoon or so of cottage cheese before he went to sleep for the night. He said the cottage cheese has a lot of protein in it and would stick with him better through the night - and we would both get more sleep. Also - feed my pup as soon as he woke up in the morning. Believe me - food has never been a problem with my Yorkie --other than he hates dog food and wants to eat people food all the time. It obviously tastes better as far as he's concerned. |

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | What age is your puppy? We had a rough time of Baby not wanting to eat for about a week there. I put tiney pieces of cheddar cheese amidst her food which was dry and also the wet, she liked that. I have now gotten her onto her dry food and tryed many we find that she prefers the Puppy Royal Canin 33 as it is real small and also take a tiny piece from a Pup-Peroni that I get in the Original Beef flavor (I only got the small 5.6 ounce package, I break it up real tiny tiny pieces and place it into her dry food and she downs it like WOW this is the BEST I still do give her tiny bit of the nutri-cal at least once in the morning and then at night. Baby didn't like eating from a dish so we place her food on top of paper plate and take it away when she is through eating. We also found that she didn't like drinking from a water dish and found that she would drink from the little plastic container that came with her kennel so we gradulally got her from that to the water dish, she loves to watch us pour her water from a little bottle into her dish and laps it up. Since we won't drink the tap water and we always gave our other yorkie Arrowhead spring water, we are doing that with Baby. I agree it is good to take the puppy to the vet right away and have it started with its shots and a good check up, discuss the bathing with your vet, our vet told us not to bathe Baby till she had her last distemper shot. I did wipe her with a cloth and noticed it helped. Best to you and your new baby and may you be Blessed with many, many fun, joyful happy healthy years. |

| I don't know the ages of these babies but it is never wise to entice eating by adding treats..they usually are not nutritionally complete. You could try a very high grade of canned food (from the vet) mixed with a quality kibble. There are some new theories about the hih protein foods we give these Yorkies and how they affect the results of liver function lab tests. You can always put the kibble in a bag and whack it a few times to break it into smaller pieces, mix a wee bit of wet food into the same bag and moosh it up til all of the kibble is coated with the wet food. It takes very little canned and you can start reducing the amt as the dog grows and matures. JMO |

| Sounds like it's the change from her old home and littermates to yours. My puppy took about 4 days to fully adjust. It just got better and better.
