| What kind of treats to you give your yorkie? I've been reading on pottty training and Fred is now 11 weeks, but I haven't given him any treats yet for potttying because I don't know what treats to get! Greenies.. the small ones look too big and the tiny bites look too small (but now after I read on Greenies, no way am I buying that for Fred!). He's still such a small little dog at 11 weeks. Any suggestions would help! I want to go to the pet store today to get hime some treats. What kind of treat do you give your pups when they poo and pee? |

| I mostly use another brand of good dog food. I just don't use real treats much. BUT, I do like those yogurt drops..Notice, I said "I"..I cut them into at least 4 peices--I eat 3 dog eats 1..LOL Another is Pedigree Breath Busters. Just whack them into tiny peices with a tenderizer hammer and keep them in an airtight baggy..and I agree, use cheerios.. If you decide to use treats get something yo can cut into pieces no larger than half your pinky nail..The treat is that they are getting praise and something from your hand.. |

| Oh yeah! They are smashed up - one yogurt drop is about 4-5 rewards, especially for training. I usually keep a couple of cherrios in my pocket though, just in case they do something that needs a reward, but I also break those in quarters as well

| We used pedigree smacos (I think thats how you spell it!) You can get them in loads of flavours and they are soft so you can break them up as small as you like! |

| Yogurt drops are animal (or human) treats that are usually close to the check-out in PetSmart. I am not a chocolate lover so I buy the white ones-don't worry. The so-called choc flavors have very little choc and might even be carob.. I try to carry dry thingies in my pocket when I am training just one or two. I have washed so many of dry stuffs in my jeans pocket but they still are best. Those soft chewy treats are usually almost garbage and not too good for them, I am told. I have used animal crackers (low fat) for humans. I buy them at the dollar stores. My absolute favorite though is either raw veggies or fruit...carrots, cauliflower, apple, banana, oranges, broccoli, teensy pieces saltines. no sugar added cereals. I do not like fat dogs( I don't like being fat either, but that is nuther whole issue) so I use anything that is not high fat, CHO...gotta be imaginative to outwit these brats.. |

| I was on another thread yesterday or the day before and now I can't find it. We had started talking about cheerios for yorkies. Aimee, I noticed you said you give them to your guys. Do most of you agree that this is a good treat? If so, I would love to use those for Molly. It would just seem so much cleaner to travel with when you can't wash your hands and to keep on the counter instead of doggie treats. Also, I've been reading that a lot of you give them pieces of carrots as rewards. This would also be great. Then, I can by the same stuff for Ashlyn (my 3 yr. old daughter) and Molly!

| I use Pedigree Trainer treats -- they're very small and very soft. I also break up pupperoni once in a while. He loves the Pupperoni!

| I'm pretty sure the cherrios are fine They were a suggestion from my breeder and they go a long way if you break them up. My dogs don't care how big the treat is as long as they get them. Sandy loves carrots, but I haven't tried them with Tia yet

| I've never tried Cheerios, but I think it would be a good thing to try. Do you guys use just plain ones? I wish Stewie would eat carrots. He just pushes them around with his nose.

| I have a box of plain and a box of honey nut - Tia sometimes gets the honey nut, but Sandy gets plain since she's my little fatty I tried the bil-jac treats, but the dogs didn't like them once they had been out for awhile.
