| Tracheal collapse My 10 year old dog was recently diagnosed with tracheal collapse. The coughing wouldn't stop so my family had to hospitalize the dog for a week. The cough definently gotten better ever since we took him to the hospital. He used to honk and gag constantly but now he does it every 10 minutes or so. I've also noticed his appetite isn't so good. Ever since i started researching more about CT, I've noticed people do not recommend surgery for the dog. At first, i felt the same. However, his honking and coughing drives me crazy. I couldn't even fall asleep. I don't know what i can do for my dog for him to get better. I've read about air purifier could help and all the other stuff. Everytime he coughs, it breaks my heart and the vet also told me today about pneumonia. I've seen some posts saying that they had to put them down and i cant imagine I would have to do the same for mine. He's our family but on the other side I feel like putting him down would be good for the dog so he doesn't suffer anymore. I don't know what i should do. Is there anything that could help my dog to breathe better? |

| CT I thought that using a harness on our latest Yorkie would help eliminate CT, but she still ended up developing it, sadly. |

| Pneumonia I thought that narcotics slowed respirations in humans, don't know about dogs, but it is a Class II narcotic. I was wondering if slowed breathing could be a problem with pneumonia. |

| My 6 lbs Daisy sometimes get this episodes of "honking" ...a friend suggested to give her Extra Virgen Olive Oil .......I really think it works!!...Besides Olive Oil is healthy. ...Also, she does not wear collars...(she has microchip.) I always groom her by myself....I am afraid somebody else will hurt her....
