Yorkie Puppy having seizures after 1st puppy shot My friends Yorkie puppy started having seizures after his 1 st puppy shot.He is 8 weeks old.She is the breeder of this puppy He is at the regency vet right now. They r keeping him.Could it be from the shot?He was fine before the shot. All other pups r doing good.Any help would be helpful. She doesn't want to.loose this precious baby. |
It's possible the vet should have given a steroid and Benadryl shot to help if it was that. What was in the shot like what was it for? Did it have Lepto in it? |
My 5 year old Yorkie, Lucy, had severe reactions after her 2nd round of shots... crying & yelping loudly from touches or moving her around at all within hours of the vaccination. Now my Vet gives her a shot of steroids and Benadryl on any vaccines or booster vaccines just to insure no additional reactions or sensitivities! She’s never had any problems with any of her vaccines since! Hope that helps you! Blessings to you & your fur-baby! |
What shots were given, exactly? |
Did you give the shot yourself? What was it? I was looking over your previous posts and wondering if this puppy is just sick as you have had numerous puppies with issues. Might be something congenital as opposed to it being that shot. If it is the shot, hopefully he will get better since he is at a vet. |

I’m here looking for something completely different and ran across this. I thought I would share my recent experience. Maybe it could help someone at some point. I come here often and read these. It’s saved me & quite possibly my baby. My guy had his 1st shot after around 12 weeks. It was a disaster. Terrifying! He had a seizure late at night. Urinated all over himself. I immediately got in the car and headed over an hour away to the nearest hospital. On the way I wondered if he was possibly suffering from hypoglycemia & found an old package of MD’s honey. He licked on it a bit and within minutes he perked up. Long story short that is what happened. Because he was in so much pain he didn’t eat & we all know these little guys are at risk. We now follow a strict protocol for vaccines. Only 1 per visit. Pre medicated (Benadryl), vaccine, then home with an anti-inflammatory/pain med for 3 days. We have had zero issues since. Which has been 2 vaccines. |
Quick question....What's Hypoglycemia....????????? |
My Teasell had a really bad reaction to the second set of vaccinations. We didn't even make it out of the office when she started vomiting and seizing. I had to open the door to the back and call the doctor back in. We almost lost her that day. I now limit shots to just one kind with a backup med before vaccinations are administered. That was so many years ago and I still remember how quickly it all happened. |
