| Mine doesn't need the X-rays to diagnose either.

I really am lucky with my vet he only charges $300 for the cleaning but that does not include blood work. But H S is much cheaper if that is all included in the price. I work long hours during the week so for me its a matter or convenance also built into the price and getting an appt when I want it. I try to book the dental when they have their annual visit so it all gets done together and I am not paying for blood work again. Sorry you had a bad experience with AMC. I have heard mixed reviews about them. LadyJane is right it sounds like you love Gizmo more than anything. He is lucky to have such a caring mom. I love my two the same way. I keep saying I want another one as well but than think of the cost and time from my two I can provide and say not at this time.

| Hello, and thank you for your input and kind words. I have used the mobile vet(van) once for an xray of my Lucky boys leg. He was limping when I first got him (off of a woman on the street). They did an ex-ray(digital) and said nothing was wrong, probably arthritis. Gave me some pain meds if he was in discomfort. Duh. I took him home, worked with him..loved him..now he runs like a deer. Love is the main ingredient in all caretaking. I wouldn’t take them to the van for a cleaning because it involves anaesthesia. I’d prefer it done in an hospital/clinical setting. I don’t think the fee at the human society includes the blood work. Have to inquire. You’re quite right, may as well have them draw blood during a checkup and not pay twice for blood work. However, the blood work has to be done within a certain period of time before the dental procedures or else it’s no good. I was able to get the blood work done last year and make an appt. But now, since the price is great, it’s almost impossible to have that arrange due to a long waiting period. I do love my fur babies...as you do your...however, I think 2 is more than enough because we need to care and provide for them. Glad your vet charges $300, that’s great! You’re fur babies are blessed to have you too. |
