Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Thanks SO very much, my friends - your words mean so much . Heard from the vet yesterday. He had full bloodwork just in May and comparing Monday's bloodwork to that -- his globulins are up more (slightly elevated in May) and his white blood cells are up. His titer for Valley Fever was negative -- but honestly, that doesn't mean much to me. I'm very suspicious this is what he has. I know 3 different people whose dogs had Valley Fever and with all 3 of them, the titers came back negative at first -- and all of them had lameness in limbs and weight loss. Valley Fever is epidemic level here in AZ . Today, going to vet for full body xrays to look for signs of Valley Fever and/or for anything else. Will also talk to her today about Lymes. The Rimadyl is helping a bit w/ the limp...but it's still pronounced . The *very* good news is that, although he's lost weight, his appetite is good and he is eating good. SO THANKFUL for that!!! He went from 4.2 in May to 3.6 currently - so he really cannot lose any more!

| Although I was out and about yesterday, lil Marcel was on my mind and I was praying you would get good news. Hope today's vet visit finds whats causing his limping and weight loss. He is tiny and my goodness no,he cannot be losing this weight. Thankfully he is eating. Praying for good news on your next up-date (((hugs))).

| I hope you can get some answers for Marcel today to get him feeling better soon! Sophie was recently bit by a tick and is still sensitive in that area after 3 weeks. Our vet said to give it at least 6 weeks before we retest for anything. Had an emergency vet pull it off of her (we couldn't get it and she was trying to bite us) and for some reason they just threw it away and didn't identify it so we don't even know what kind of tick it was! I hate ticks so much. Hopefully whatever is going on with Marcel is an easy and quick fix and he can get back to himself! |

| Hope there's improvement I've been reading the posts, but have no experience with such a problem. I hope Marcel is improving and you are getting some definitive answers and appropriate treatment. |

| Oh, Ann, I'm praying so hard for Marcel, bless his little heart. Does seem suspicious for one of the fever syndromes. Please keep us updated as you can. Best of thoughts and love to beautiful little Marcel and you. I know you're hurting for him.

| So sorry to hear about Marcel! So hard when you are clueless. My first thought was Lymes as that happened to Jackson years ago. Unexplained limping/lameness. He did test positive so we did a round of doxycycline and some pain meds and he was all good within a few days. Hope you can get to the bottom of this for sweet Marcel!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Years ago, I had a young lab that started limping for no reason. Vet told me it was inflammation of the bone marrow! It eventually went away -- can't remember treatment -- but I just Googled now and found this. Osteomyelitis in Dogs. Inflammation of the bone or bone marrow most commonly occurs due to bacterial infections, but also shows up rarely as a fungal infections. This type of infection is referred to as osteomyelitis. The inflammation may be due to an acute (sudden) infection, or to a chronic infection. Likely unrelated, but I wanted to give you something! Good luck, sweet Marcel.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Thank you, thank you, thank you for your sweet words and helpful ideas! Mike, I will mention osteomyelitis - very interesting! UPDATE: Had full body xrays on Friday and vet went over them with me...she sees NO signs of Valley Fever in the bone, nor any nodes that would indicate it either. What the heck...? However, she is sending the films to a radiologist for them to pour over with a fine-toothed comb. All limbs looked perfect, as did spine/neck, and organs. We are all clueless . If still no direction after radiologist, then our vet will schedule a conference call w/ an internist to determine what next. If no answers come, then it looks like we'll need to look further at those elevated globulins for indicators of cancer ...I can't even deal with that. The internist will guide us as to that testing. Talked to her about Lymes -- and she pretty much thinks there is no chance of it unless we had traveled to an area that had it, and we haven't. But of course she said we can test for it if we want. Luckily...his mood is good...and his appetite is still doing great - which is *such* a gigantic relief! If he wasn't eating right now, you don't even know how much I'd be totally freaking out! Actually, you probably do . Thanks again for all your wonderful support...and if you think of *any* ideas, don't hesitate to mention them!!! Save

| Ann I have been away from YT quite awhile and recently returned. I saw what you've been going through with little Marcel and Im so sorry! Also that it's taking so long for results. It's so upsetting to see them suffer and we don't have answers. In the time I've been away my little Tosh became very sick too. It took weeks and test after test finially the answers came bringing relief for Tosh and me! Thank goodness you have your Vets and specialist that are on top of this and hopefully very soon the diagnosis. Bringing "relief" to "you"and your little Marcel. You are in my thoughts for a good report too!!
