| IVDD surgery done, now CHF? I had posted a thread in Dec about our dog's condition. It was IVDD at her lumbar area and we went thru surgery. Her legs are doing fine now. 2 weeks after the surgery, we went back for follow up, my dog was very very anxious. She wouldn't stop panting. The next day she was coughing (goose honk) all day. And that night, around 2am while she was sleeping she suddenly couldn't breathe at all, she cough (goose honk) very loud once, and then made some gasping noises because she was trying to breathe but she couldn't. We were losing her, I could see her face froze and her body turning stiff, then she defecated on my husband. Luckily, my husband continued to do CPR on her, and finally brought her back. We rushed her to the emergency hospital afterwards. We thought she had Tracheal collapse (because the goose honk noises) Doctors at the emergency hospital said there could have been a collapse, but they couldn't see it at that moment. The next day, we brought her home. She has been doing fine for the most part. But at most nights she would have panting, labored breathing. Some nights she would sit there restless keep trying to breathe for hours, like in this video (this was last night) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfrn2iLsf3E Some nights even when she was able to sleep, she seem like was having difficulty to breathe. Her lung/chest has such big moments. like this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o000GRpDn24 We have made appointment with the cardiologist, but its 2 weeks away. We are on their cancel list as well. But her breathing is really making us worry. (She has always been the "weak" type of dog. She had frequent seizures when she was a puppy due to hypoglycemia) It's just confusing to us if it's tracheal collapse or CHF or Lung problems? If any of you had any experience with this symptoms, please give us some advice before we can meet the cardiologist. My husband and I have been very stressful and restless at night since that one night, we are always afraid that episode would happen again. P.S. since that night she almost died, she rarely cough (goose honk) noise. The excessive panting and labored breathing are the problems. P.S. again, while she is sleeping, I would hear her making a gasping noise, also sounded like a short cough, and then she would sit up and make some noises with her throat, i can tell it was her air got cut off at middle of the night, so she sat up trying to breathe better. This happens maybe 5 nights out of a week. When she breathe she always make this noise, it sounded like theres water behind her nose, or kind of like water boiling sound. When I didn't know before, i always thought she had choke on some water, and its behind her nose. I even used those baby tools tried to suck it out for her. Of course it didn't work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I would also provide more info once we see the cardiologist or if we can confirm whats wrong with her. It has been crazy for us. |
