| Tongue Issues Do I need to be concerned, Roxy is sticking her tongue out after she barks? It seems as if she has something stuck in her mouth but when I check nothing is there. Also her tongue is light in color. She doesn't show any signs of stress. Can anyone help, she's a 19 month old female who just recently started doing this. ( Recently added a 13 weeks old male yorkie to the household.) |

| Help for Roxie I really don't have an answer for you but if you have not done so yet I would be calling your vet to ask their opinion on this matter for Roxie. That is what I always do first. They should be of a help to you at least by telephone consult. I hope things are going to be fine for your baby.

| Oh dear, that does seem to be a strange behavior to suddenly develop. My first thoughts go to A) dental or B) neurological. I suppose it could also be a strange random nothing type thing too- but loss of motor control makes me think neuro and younger sticking out makes me think potential dental issue - is there a bad smell coming from her mouth or any swelling or heat in the surrounding area? I agree that a call to the vet could really ease your mind or give you good direction. I hope all is well with your little sweetie and she has just picked up a strange new habit. Please update if you get more info.

| Check her upper lip... sometimes they might have a long hair that picks them inside their mouth. Found that out when my dog kept trying to lick and bite... strange indeed.

| Is it her whole tongue or just the tip ? Yorkies often have the tip just sticking out for just no reason at all. I would have your vet take a look though just to be sure there isn't a problem in her mouth. |
