| Vomit. Again. I"m not scared or wigging out, I'm just honestly wanting to know why she's doing this. She refused to eat, most of it is because the "dog pack" she hangs out with every sunday doesn't eat wet or boiled food, so she's going on a strike. We gave her baked potato- plain- last night while we were at Sweet Tomatoes. I am positive there was NOTHING on it. I looked and looked again. In tinfoil. We took skin off it and she ate around I dunno 1/8 of a cup. we played in the park. came home, she was in a great mood. Threw up at 8am. Ate boiled hamburger an hour ago, refused noodles, begged for my orange, and is currently chomping on her lamb ear. Is she nauseated? What in the H E double hockey sticks is going ON? When she does this, each time, it's bile with maybe a tiny bit of undigested food in it. this time was two lumps of potato the size of a pencil eraser. i'm clueless. Vet was called. Appointment on standby if she throws up her "lunch" that she ate. |

| She's alright! She only ate that little bit, played, then ate her entire lunch leftovers. Curled up with me for a late afternoon nap. was in a fantastic mood when waking up, too. Ate a huge dinner. Too much, if you ask me, but I was too busy cooking for daughter and husband for tomorrow's lunches. i decided to try something new, which is feed her about 2 hours before bed. I know if I don't eat I get nauseated, then I don't want to eat and then throw up. She can't tell me what's wrong, but I know that she eats at 6pm and goes to bed at around 11pm and then will eat breakfast either at 8am or 9am. She gets up at 7am. My theory is she's just producing a lot of bile and it's churning in there. Only a guess, though. I figure that might be it because i hear her tummy in the mornings. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Is she vomiting or is she regurgitating, I wonder...? Vomiting would be where you see her heaving and working up to it, then vomiting. Regurgitation happens where stuff just comes up w/out any warning at all - if that's the case, I'd suspect GERD/reflux...

| Poor Chewie! Might be that certain foods do not agree with her. As I wrote to you before, I have to keep Teddy on a really, really strict diet. He vomited a little bit of stomach juices 2 nights ago because I gave him the tiniest taste of grated parmesan (the powdery stuff in a can). We had run out of the fresh stuff and I gave into his begging. Could have been acid reflux as Ann wrote, caused by the parmesan. I would be careful with potatoes, white or sweet potatoes. I know they are a popular treat and are included in many dog foods, but it seems anecdotally that they can cause tummy issues. They are very filling too and can cause bloat.

| I haven't had a chance to sit down and post for days. I'm bringing up the bile issue and her tummy churning on Monday with the vet- called and had both of her issues- this and her tooth- put in the file so we can discuss those in particular. Ann, she isn't doing that, but she's working up to it. Does that make sense? when she threw up she DID hack it up, but it wasn't like usual. It only lasted a few seconds. It was almost without warning. She was on her back, in bliss, getting her belly rubbed and then turned and did it. Split second hacking. Much different from what I've noticed with her bad bouts. I Looked up quite a bit, and have a dx to ask her about called Bilious vomiting syndrome which I read causes GERD after awhile. I'm no vet, but Chewie certainly fits the bill. Kristin: with the potatoes? Yes, I'm being very, very, careful. She loves sweet potatoes, but it's a treat. Not the orange, the white ones. I'm being even more careful since this bout. I let her refuse her carbs for two meals the next day and put her back on I/D with boiled bison. She's still being a little creep about the I/D, but it seems to be better for her. I did notice that the one night she didn't get a snack, as I went to bed at 8pm, she woke up with her stomach churning. I gave her a few handfuls of froms and it settled down. I'm at a loss, but I think it's both, to be honest. Bile issues and a sensitive tummy. |

| Honestly, if she were my girl I would be getting an EGD done . She may be having a spinctur(sp) issue at some point in her system. |

| Yes; that's what I wanted to discuss with the doctor. Doctor was sick; Chewie was rescheduled for the day she's getting her bordatella shot, as it's due. I'll ask specifically for a REFERRAL for an EGD because last time her u/s was ridiculously expensive, as they have to have someone come in outside of the vet's office. |
