| New to site. Yorkie not eating 2 weeks Hi everybody. My wife and I brought our 13 year old Yorkie named Sophie to our vet 2 weeks ago. Diagnosed with pancreatitis. After several days of still not eating weight dropped to 5.2 lbs. Took to hospital. Admitted for 2 days with IV fluids, meds. Released yesterday as she ate both days a little dog food on her own. Problem is she is back home and refuses all food again. Sent home with Buprenex, pepcid, cerenia and orbax. Still it seems like she cannot smell any food or appetite gone. She is also periodically shaking. We thought since she had no teeth she was sucking in air but was told it is related. And sleeping alot. We are feeding here baby food via syringe and some chicken vegetable mix my wife blended. We are I believe running out of time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. A couple in Massachusetts. |

| Welcome to YT. So sorry that your sweet girl is experiencing problems. Several members on here have dealt with pancreatitis with their pups. Hopefully they will see your post soon and offer some suggestions. Until then, you might search through some old threads for ideas.

| Bupranex may be why she is sleeping a lot. I might be inclined to stop giving it. Give your vet a call and ask if she can have Mirtazapine. It stimulates the appetite. It doesn't always work but when it does it is amazing. You can also ask about taking her off bupranex. Please keep us posted. Welcome to YT.

| I'm afraid that I don't have the experience to help, but wished to send along positive thoughts for your baby and you. I know that when they aren't feeling well and cannot tell us what's up, we suffer too. It is hard on all Good to have an update... when you can. |

| I'm very sorry to hear about your Yorkie having pancreatitis. I had a little Yorkie mix and when she was five years old she developed very bad and painful pancreatitis. She spent six weeks in her basket, not wanting to do anything and hardly ate. We were convinced we were going to lose her. My vet tried everything, we'd take her everyday to the clinic nothing worked. In the end he told me to put her on a diet of boiled chicken breast and a sprinkling of charcoal. From then on she started to perk up and eventually she was back to her old self. I was told to slowly introduce her to a low-fat diet. From then on I never had any problems with her. She lived for another nine years. Good luck, I hope things better. |

| Update She was on the appetite stimulant but it made her excited to have food but still did not eat. However this morning 10/9/16 she actually ate half her usual portion and last night seemed perky and was rolling around and playful. Drinking a little and will keep eye on. We shall keep praying and I thank you all for the responses. Have looked at some old posts to get ideas which are helpful. Will keep up to date. |

Also try feeding her bits of carb - like crackers or pieces of bread - this can help w/ energy, help w/ nausea, and absorb funky tummy juices...and stim the appetite by doing all that.

| Bad news Still not eating on her own since last update. Her blood work shows normalized pancreas but now her gall bladder and liver have elevated numbers. She sounds like she is in much discomfort and we have been to three different vets. We are trying one more next week and he will evaluate her. Prayers requested. Thanks for all your support. We would be devastated to lose our little girl. |

| Thanks Lady Jane Will be trying a John Perdrizet DVM at the Sanctuary Animal Clinic in Holyoke. He also does alternative methods which we may pursue. I will keep those names if nothing changes. Thanks, Carl |
