| Chester has a broken lower jaw my 16 year old yorkie Chester fell down the stairs last Monday and broke his lower jaw. He was able to eat soft food and drink water so we decided to wait to see before we made a decision. We have taken him to the vet 3 times. Each time I'm told his vitals are normal and he is not in any pain. Has anyone had this happen? He is also blind but has such a will to live. My vet knows how much he is loved and says as long as he eats and drinks he can survive. There has been some bleeding but it stops. Surgery is not option as my vet days he has too much bone loss from not having any teeth. I rescued Chester 14 years ago. |

| I'm so sorry! I have a 15 year old so I know how hard it is for you as we know this time is precious, and now to add in a traumatic injury, you must be so worried. Sounds like you just have to monitor it and see how he does. Hopefully it heals enough that he still has some quality years left with you. Lots of prayers headed your way! |

| I'm so sorry this happened to Chester. But your little boy wanting to eat and drink does sound encouraging and their will to live is amazing! I hope he continues daily to get better and his little mouth heals. Maybe some soft ice cream sometimes. I also hope you are doing ok this is so hard when our babies are hurting. Hugs for you and little Chester!

Chester is 16 years 7 months young, blind and can't hear very well. Last night he fell down our stairs and broke his jaw. The vet gave him morphine and gave me the chance to say good bye. I'm so sad but know it's best. He's not in pain but will never be able to eat or drink again. I still feel like maybe there's something I didn't do or maybe he'll be OK in my heart but know I have to be strong for him and not sorry for myself. I need strength but all I can do is cry for him. | I posted this originally Monday evening, Sept 5th. The vet gave him morphine and told me he was in no pain. She suggested we brink him home overnite and then make a decision in the morning. Tuesday morning he went to his water bowl and began drinking. The vet then told me if he can learn how to drink/eat he can survive. Surgery is not an option as he has no teeth and too much bone loss. It's been a week now. Chester is eating when I hand feed soft wet food or use a syringe and drinks water from his water bowl. I'm also giving him high calorie paste recommeded by vets. |

YT 2000 Club Member | Dog Sweet chester. I glad he is eating. My Yorke really likes the wellness petite casserole the chicken carrot and green bean. It is soft and a complete balanced meal. I will pray for chester to be able to eat drink and get better.all of life is in the hands of the Lord. May chester have a healing touch and good days ahead. |
