YT Young Pup | My Border Collie has a lump KC has this lump on her left shoulder, it has one little hole in the middle of it that seeps. It makes a scab and it stinks. The stuff that comes out is red. Bloody. But it stinks really bad. Does any one know what it might be? Or what causes that? And how to fix it? I bathed her and cut the hair on it so its not getting all stuck and scabbed on her hair. And I also put some medicine on it. Please let me know what you think.

| Possibly a spider bite? How long has it been oozing? With that bad of an odor it's probably infected, jmho as I'm not a vet. If it's going on several days and no improvement I would take him to the vet. Let us know how it goes.

| My Teddy Bear was bit by a brown recluse spider a few years back. The lump was blood red in color and the center was soft and black. If the lump is like this please get him to the vet. I would take him anyway. It needs to be looked at.

| There have been a couple cases on YT of dogs with a bot fly. It does something like lay an egg that produces a larvae that creates something like what you are describing. I would definitely have it checked out ASAP to have the vet determine what the lump is.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It's most likely an abscess - and you NEED to see a vet asap. The infection goes inward instead of bursting through the skin and it can make your dog VERY sick. Don't mess around with a potential abscess. They smell like rotting flesh, basically, bc that's exactly what's happening.

YT Young Pup | Hi everyone, sorry I didn't post anything for a while. But anyways, KC is all better. Took her to the vet, and it was a foxtail in there. Those pesky things. They are terrible. But it's out and she is all good now. Thank you all for your help.

| Thanks for updating! Glad all is well...yes, those things are awful. I have never had to deal with them, but have heard so much about them.
