| Rehab. Diet reduction I'm surprised upon searching there isn't talk of feeding during rehab. I can't find anything on how much to reduce diet while they are laying around recuperating On Internet either Zoey normally eats 8 gram of kibble to maintain weight topped with a little venison meat...twice a day....I have reduced it by2 gram but don't like to guess.. Plus mid afternoon watermelon and/or veggie ...bedtime is a few tiny bites of low sodium rice cake and a 4 calorie treat Any suggestion? Thanks

| Do you mean to tell me that being adorable doesn't burn calories?! Good question on how much to reduce her food. Max was on restricted activity once for a week and I couldn't believe how fast he gained weight. He had a little pot belly. They lose weight fast too though. I don't think there is one formula that will suit all dogs. If she is tolerating the reduction well and not showing significant weight gain in a week, I think you are on the right track. Sending healing wishes to your sweet Zoey.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | You are such a great, wonderful Momma to even think of this . The good news is, you probably don't have to worry about it much. Our bodies and our dogs' bodies make any metabolism adjustments VERY, very slowly. In other words, it has to take weeks of a significant change in either direction for the metabolism to actually change itself. If you want to reduce a bit, it won't hurt...but most likely the metabolism will be just fine and there won't be any appreciable weight gain or anything.

| A 5% reduction would be 7.6 grams and a 10% reduction would be 7.2 grams. I hope your beautiful little girl heals quickly.

| Thank you! She tires easy today, it's hard! Your suppose to get them up and moving for 5 minutes thru out the day but be careful to not over do . If you don't move them enough they won't pee and poo and will will stiffen up....if you let me move like they want , they could hurt themselves. So I move her to different places in her crate to view the scenery so she won't get too bored , rest of the time she sleeps...my poor baby.....
