| My Friend's Yorkie is Sick She won't take her to the Vet....cause she doesn't want him being poked on, so she is giving him antibiotics that isn't too old as well as chicken soup. He's lost weight and can't walk, etc. I think it is serious and she should take him, but that is her choice. Anyways, he's 15 years old. |

| So are you saying it's ok because he is old? Not sure why you posted this? If my friend let her pup suffer that way we would probably not be friends.

| This dog NEEDS to see a vet ASAP, especially due to his age. He could be in liver and/or kidney failure & often they can have a few good yrs left in them with treatment & a diet change. If he's having organ issues then chicken in any form can kill him. A simple blood test can check for liver/kidney issues. |

Yes, it's sounds VERY serious to me. Gosh, if this were me and a "friend" treated an animal in this way, they most certainly would no longer be considered a friend...forcing an animal to suffer like this. Call the local Humane Ass'n and report her, for gosh sake. Do something, please.

| I posted this because I was concerned and that is why I posted what I did. I insisted her to take him to the Vet numerous of times, but that is her choice and I am not going to report her to any authorities. She is staying home today from work today and if he's not okay, she will take him to the Vet. Could it be he's on his last leg (pun not intended)~? I hope not but what could it be, cancer~? |

Is that really what you believe? Bc that's also like saying "this person is abusing her dog but that is her choice, so....". Why would you be a bystander to this and do nothing?

Yeah, sure it could be cancer. Could also be about 1,000 other things. This is just very sad to think about - people who claim to love their pets, but then just sit and watch them very clearly suffer. Unreal to me, really unreal.

| Could be something easily treatable like lymes disease. My older boy wasn't able to walk prop at age 14 and it was lymes related. Fairly reasonable vet bill and much better after just one day of antiniotics. Such a shame to let a poor dog suffer when it is our responsibility as pet parents to take care of them. I'm guessing that she has been fairly lucky with his health so far and she def owes it to him to get him diagnosed and treated. If it's something that's incurable then she may have to decide on euthanasia or if it's something treatable that she can't afford, she should surrender him to a rescue so that he can live out his last years. My oldest is 15 and every year at his physical the vet can't believe how healthy he seems. Some of these strong babies live till 18 years. |

| How can I delete this post totally~? I didn't expect to get such criticism from y'all. Her Yorkie is not in pain and she isn't working and staying home until the situation is better. She is a good dog parent ~! She doesn't want him euthanize and for him to die naturally and at home if that is the case. Anyways, she use to show her other Yorkie and been to the Westminster so she is all about dogs and how to care for them~! If the mod is reading this please delete my whole post ~ ! |

| I can't even find the words. I just left one of my beloved 13 year olds in the ICU for care ... she is in rough shape but she will not just lay in my home with me giving her some antibiotics from somewhere...not even knowing IF she needs them...and won't lay here and suffer and die. Her name is Adina .. and I have never been to Westminster but I sure as heck take my pups to a vet when they are sick.
