Please pray for us! Hello everyone, Today has been a traumatic day for me and my family. Our 5 year old Yorkie who weighs 4lbs had a head injury caused by my other schnauzer. It was a complete accident that occurred because my other dog was trying to jump on the bed and didn't make it and fell on the Yorkie. My mom immediately noticed our Sebastian was not conscious and tried giving him CPR which helped to revive him a little. Immediately they rushed to the 24 hour emergency veterinary by our home and they put him in an oxygen incubator. The doctor said we was in critical condition because swelling of the brain had occurred and anytime he tried to take Sebastian out of the incubator to perform tests he would have a seizure. He was having a seizure every two hours but now they told us calmed down with the medications. They are trying everything even giving him steroids. He is breathing but he's not conscious. They told us to wait 24 hours to give it some time. If we were to lose our baby it would be like losing a family member. Sebastian is one of a kind and we love him more than he will ever know. We have been praying all day but the waiting game could be devastating. He was healthy, playful, and loving. It would be so devastating to lose him over such a stupid accident. Please I ask for all the prayers we could get. If anyone has any similar stories that could help it would be greatly appreciated. Our pets mean the world to us. The pain is unbearable to think he might not come home.

I had a yorkie that was zooming around in the back yard, and when he ran from an area lit bright with sunlight, and crossed into a deep shadow, he was not able to see, and ran full tilt, into a brick wall. He knocked himself out stone cold....I snatched him up, and did CPR on him until we got to the emergency clinic....(Sunday, of course!)....they worked frantically on him....multitude of meds, oxygen, incubator to keep body temp up, Mannitol given IV, Prednisone and a multitude of other drugs.....his swelling in his brain did go down, and he did recover.....I was warned about possibility of seizure activity for the rest of his life....he never did have another seizure.....so dont give up hope....it may look grim, but he may, he CAN, pull thru this....it has happened before......

News Hello, Thank you again for all your kind words and story. It's relieving to hear something similar has happened and that your baby survived and is doing well, so happy for your baby! I have great news that Sebastian opened his eyes, it was very minimal but it's something. He even switched sides since I'm guessing he's been tired of laying on the same side. The nurse watching over him said this was improvement but we are now waiting until 8 am when the next Doctor comes in to hear more. I will continue on keeping everyone posted but please don't stop praying for us. All your kind words mean everything to us in this time of despair.

Update I have great news! The doctor called us this morning and told us that our Sebastian is better!! They put him in a different room and he was walking and everything. They told us they could give him to us today but we asked for them to keep him a little longer just in case and keep an eye on him. I am ecstatic that my little Sebastian made it. As per the doctor he hasn't had anymore seizures and is functioning well. Thank you everyone for all your prayers. Today is a happy day for me and my family. Our baby is coming home!!

I am thrilled for you!!! That is just like what my experience was with my little dog! Such a wonderful ending! Just remember......THEY seldom learn from their mistake, and if given the opportunity to repeat what he did that was the initial cause of this event, he will! I am remembering what happened and I think he had no hand in what happened to him.....another pet accidentally jumped on him, or something? That makes it even harder to "prevent" from happening again, trying to "run interference" so they dont get into the SAME trouble! Lordy, these little babies will absolutely kill us, trying to even stay one step ahead of them, and accidents happen....we just do the best we can do and PRAY!!!! I am THRILLED for your outcome!!! | |
