| Kidney Failure My 11 year old yorkie Taz went to the vet today... A month ago his BUN reading was 54.1 and today it was 81.5... 😢 I am trying everything I know to do.. He takes vetmedin, a lasic, and now they have added benazepril and famotidine ...has anyone tried the holistic product kidney support gold? |

| as a nurse who worked with humans in Heart Failure (the meds your pup is on sound like HF meds) it might be poor perfusion of the kidneys on top of the diuretic (Lasix). In the human world we change the diuretic to something less harmful to the kidneys. But with heart failure, kidney damage go hand in hand. doing something holistic/natural can actually cause harm. Hopefully the blood pressure medication will help his heart which will in turn help his kidneys. I'm assuming he's on a special diet? Low sodium. Limited fluid allowance. | Taz has been on science diet K/d for over three years.. My vet cut his lasix dosage in half today when he brought on board the blood pressure med and the med for ulcers, but actually told me to get all the liquids down him that I could.. I'm totally confused... The holistic med I purchased was kidney support gold from pet wellbeing.. It got great reviews from people whose dogs had BUN numbers in the 100-120 range.. The only warning it gave was do not take with blood thinners... |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I am so sorry! My own boy, Bentley, is suffering from kidney disease. His is not related to heart problems, though. I know how hard it is when people are telling you so many different things. Definitely watch out for sodium (aka salt). This is a great forum to find advice. Keep us up to date on your little one.
