| HELP. 6 week old yorkie My fiance and I just adopted a yorkie pup today, was told the puppy was 9 weeks old. We just took him to the vet and was told he looks to be more like 5 to 6 weeks old . I am currently giving him canned food mixed with puppy replacement milk. He is eating and drinking very well, has urinated multiple times but has no had a bowel movement yet and it's been about 6 hours since I got him. He's very wobbly when he walks but was playing with a toy for a while and seems alert. Is there anything else I should be doing ? I'm very concerned as he is only 14 oz and I am very upset that I was given a puppy that is clearly too young to be away from mamma . Any help would be much appreciated! |

| This absolutely infuriates me!!! It is being done more and more and people that are out purchasing puppies, at the very least, should know what the legal age to dump a puppy on new owners in that State, is. Pull it up and check it out in Ca. Then call that puppy mill you bought that enfant from and tell them you are aware of the legal age in the State of Ca, and you intend to report them. PLEASE, everyone reading this!!!! It is BEST for YOUR Yorkie, for that baby to remain with momma until 12-14 weeks of age....10 weeks is in my mind, marginally acceptable for some, NOT me, but when you are looking at a puppy, and it can barely walk, it has no teeth, and it is TINY, I dont care if the "breeder" is telling you the pup is 6 months old....it is YOUR responsibility as a purchaser, to KNOW what a 12-14 week old baby looks like....and if you are cruising around, looking at back yard breeders, breeding God knows what, looking for a great cheap puppy, you are going to end up getting taken for a wild ride on Heart Break Train! My heart absolutely breaks for this unfortunate little soul....no momma, no lessons being taught in necessary "dog manners" that momma instinctively teaches her babies, and a new owner that has been taken total advantage of while a shyster laughs all the way to the bank. PLEASE, contact that person that LIED to you about this puppy....tell them you know this baby is NOT even 8 weeks old and that is the legal age a puppy must be to be sold in Ca. Tell them you fully intend to report them to the authorities in Ca....is that puppy "registered"?? Report that "breeder" to the registration authorities....hopefully, they have registered that litter with the AKC....but they are professional shysters and know how to falsify papers....report them anyway...most dont go thru the AKC, but choose those off brand registries that dont follow up on "minor details" like what is legal...... "Yorkies For Dummies" is a book that is priceless....you certainly need to get this book and read it cover to cover....you need to have some kind of a clue about what you must do to help this enfant survive. Do NOT take the baby all over town.....this baby must stay inside.....isolated away from other people and other dogs and exposure to diseases from other dogs....germs that are in the grass and on peoples clothes...PARVO especially is treacherous and will possibly kill that baby if exposed to this disease....vaccinations are ineffective until 8 weeks or later....maternal immunity waxes and wanes and will not allow anything but NeoPar to be effective....I can promise, no backyard breeder or puppy mill is giving THAT shot...... Praying for this little soul....You need to get ahold of that lying "breeder" and............ at the very least, let them know you are on to them and you intend to follow through with the authorities. |

| I definitely intend to report these sickos. I feel so horrible as I have a 3 year old yorkie, which I got at 5 months old, and she was only 1 pound at the time, runt of the litter. So when I saw the size of this baby it didn't seem out of the ordinary size wise, and was chewing on my finger with sharp little teeth. It wasn't until I got the poor little one to the vet that I found out he was younger than I was told. I was very weary of taking him home but thought regardless it was better than leaving him with people who didn't care about him enough to keep him with his mother. I've been feeding him every hour to two hours, and keeping him hydrated. He is consuming about two teaspoons of wet food with replacement milk every couple of hours. He is sleeping in a heated environment snuggled in a blanket currently. His nose is dry which concerns me, and still no bowel movement. |

| I am in the same boat as you!!! Literally, was told my puppy Daisy was 8/9 weeks and she's more like 6 weeks. I have my puppy on esbilac for puppies which is a powder and I mix it with two tsp. of warm water and she gobbles it down. I had to feed Daisy through a syringe at first, it was so upsetting that she had no idea what a bowl was at first. Just recently Daisy started drinking water and I was so nervous. I think the vet saw her 3 times a week until the second week. The vet did tell me the wet food right now is best because they have no teeth, unfortunately Daisy have no interest in dog food (of any kind) right now. Yorkiemom1 is right. It is illegal to sell a puppy that young. I wish I could report the puppy mil/breeder I got Daisy from but it was a family that their dogs just had puppies. With them being this young, being outside is a no go till they are at least 16 weeks (when all their shots are complete). The only time Daisy sees outside is when we have to take her to vet. Otherwise she stays indoor. Good luck with him, he will bring so much love and happiness. Once he gets stabled on his feet he will be running around |

| I try to feed her every 4 hours or so. Lately I've been pushing it only a half hour to just see how it goes. Since they are so little, they wont really just bark at you (trying to tell you they are hungry). Daisy knows the container consist of something she wants. The past few days when she hears it open and she is hungry she will wait where her food usually is. They will sleep basically all day!!!!! it made me nervous at first until everyone told me it was completely normal |

| Did you buy this pup from a pet shop or from a private party? You should report the seller either way. It's illegal to sell a pup that young. There is also a puppy lemon law in CA. If I were you I would demand my money back and return the pup. I know it's hard to return a puppy but this pup could end up dying or sick and cost you many times more than what you paid for the pup. You need to out this person.

| Make sure baby is in a warm spot, NO DRAFTS.....wash your hands frequently before handling the baby....it is a compromised immune system and can catch anything! Dont let anyone else around that baby....no family and friends, neighbors, associates, etc.....6 weeks old, every 4 hour feedings....seems all these babies that are of questionable heritage, are prone to hypoglycemia....if this baby gets lethargic and somulent, you need to have Dr.Millers Pet NutraDrops on hand....order it from Amazon....they love it and it has more nutritional value than that nasty, thick, messy, NutraCal...you can get a tiny little 1cc syringe from your vet, give baby 1/2cc by mouth, every 4 hours, BETWEEN your feedings..... | Also I definitely intend on reporting this breeder, they met me in a public place but I wrote down their license plate number ! And as far as giving the puppy back, I contacted the "breeder" and asked if the puppy could go back and stay with the mom for a few more weeks at least and she replied and basically said he will be fine. Sicko! I would rather him not be with a sick person like that regardless, I am giving him 247 care and I am glad he didn't go to someone who wouldn't give him the time and care I am giving him. I want to do as much as I can for him. I just fed him, gave him water, and some nutrical. He played with his blanket and was dragging it around for aboat 5 minutes, then went back to sleep. I'll wake him up in a couple of hours and feed him again. Thank you for all the support and information. Any more help and info would be greatly appreciated |

| it took Daisy a whole day to have a bowel movement. I got her on a Tuesday around 5 and went straight to the vet with her because I has questions about her age. She did not poop until Wednesday night. He will poop soon, especially since you have him on wet food (which is more of a solid food). I tend to wipe Daisys butt after since poop gets on the fur and they will try to rub their butt on floor to get it off (sometimes). just a heads up about that |
