| 4 year old Yorkie yelping when he barks I don't know what to do, earlier I noticed my dog was not walking normally he was walking with his tail between his legs and he hasn't went to the bathroom yet he kept going under my bed so I bought him some pumpkin to relieve what I thought was constipation but then he ate and played with a toy seemed totally normal but then he barked and immediately yelped in pain everytime since he's yelped when barking I feel so terrible and I don't know what to do |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Sorry to hear your little guy is hurting. I would take him to the vet ASAP. Did his bark sound normal or was it raspy? Could be several things, but he is clearly in pain. Could be something stuck in his throat or throat inflammation, could be gastro pain, or could be a back/neck/shoulder strain or injury. I've had all of these happen with Max and Teddy where they yelped loudly when they tried to bark. The last one was a severe neck strain that required prescription meds and restricted activity, both to prevent further injury. Please keep us updated.

| Vet visit is in order, ASAP tomorrow....if he is obstructed, he could rupture and die....is he distended? When you pick him up, does he yelp if you hold him around his mid section? He may have something as simple as full glands that vet needs to express, or it could be something that needs more attention....Please, keep us posted! |

| Went to the emergency vet very worried when he wasn't showing signs of improvement turns out he's totally normal but he has mild back pain ! What a relief we were told he can be on pain medication unless something bad happens |

| Happy to hear you took him to the ER and received good news and a pain reliever. When this happened to my boys, we restricted their activity, encouraged them to rest and heal with their meds. Hard to do with a Yorkie. Gentle massage also helps encourage blood flow to the area which helps the healing process.

| Great job! It is hard to watch someone you love, in apparent or obvious distress, and not try to provide relief for them...these babies can not verbalize issues they are having.....we have to become expert at recognizing when their behavior and mannerisms or habits change, even subtle changes.....this usually indicates they are having some kind of issue! It can be as simple as a strand of hair caught in their top knot, or poo clinging to the hair on their butt, to more serious issues. You were on top of this issue immediately and you provided relief to the baby that depends on you completely, to provide care and relief for him! |
