| HELP! Yorkie is terribly ill I have a 3 year old yorkie named Promise. She is like my child. She recently has been itching her but terribly and having uncontrollable diarrhea. She also has a rash on her top lip. She has been dry heaving as well. Shes lost her appetite and spends all day itching. I work a lot and am not able to take her to the vet until the morning. Does anybody have any suggestions? I can post photos when I get home. It makes me so sad knowing she's sitting at home in pain. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | I am very sorry to hear about this, these babies are exactly like our children It sounds pretty bad and like she needs to see the vet ASAP or you could 100% risk her health or worse. These little ones are known for becoming dehydrated very quickly when they are losing fluids and can go into shock. I'm not in any way an expert on this aside from just having two sick pups myself....getting them to the vet asap most definitely saved my little ones life... Check her gums and do the pinch of the neck test to see if she is dehydrated.... You should most definitely hear additional feed back from more experienced fur Mommy's on here shortly in the meantime getting her to a vet crucial Hope your promise feels better soon |

| I am retired now....so I can now say.....I had been moved at times to call in sick....which was NOT a lie because when one of my dogs was in a horrible mess, I was SICK over it and I called in sick, because I could not have worked effectively, knowing I had a baby at home that was in acute distress and miserable.....and if I had ever done that, then gone home to find that dog dead, they would have had to carry me out of my house in a straight jacket, and I would have NEVER gotten over it. Please, get that baby to a vet....sounds like to me, this pup is in desperate need of vet care. |

| From what you describe, she needs to be at an emergency vet now. These little dogs can go down so fast -- uncontrollable diarrhea, not eating, and dry-heaving. I'm not exaggerating: this is likely a life or death situation.

| If I could ask only one thing from people that come to this site, PLEADING for help, and people take their time to respond, not because we get PAID for sharing experience/knowledge, but simply because we care for the pet, PLEASE take a minute and return to let us know what the outcome was. Did this unfortunate little soul die? Did you get up and get this baby to much needed medical help? Strangers that nothing invested in this little dog, have stopped their busy lives to try to help YOU....be courteous enough to let us know what happened to this poor little dog. | I totally agree. Thank you for writing this as I was about to do the same thing. We are all very concerned, plus we all learn from others' experiences.

| It's actually been posted by admin that if you post in the "Sick & Injured / Emergencies" forum that you should come back and update: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...sick-pets.html "Please be considerate and post updates of your Yorkie in your Emergency thread. A lot of members here do care about you and your Yorkie, and want to know if their advice or support helped at all. Thank you."

| Sick dog Reading the original post again I see it is the first one. With all these nasty symptoms what did the OP expect us to do to help except to suggest a vet visit? If this was a real situation, I hope the poor baby made it. |
