| Stomach Virus again My 9 years old Yorkie (Chloe) is getting sick again. Nothing has changed in her diet. We recently moved into a new home and I wonder if it caused stress on her? But we moved to new home for couple weeks already. I feed her Fromm. Please advise!! |

| Poor Chloe! Could be stress, even if it did not manifest itself until 2 weeks later. What kind of symptoms does she have? Definitely no new foods or treats?

| What are her symptoms? If she is having vomiting and diarrhea, vets always recommend that you feed them plain boiled chicken and rice for a few days and see if their tummy improves. If so, slowly transition them back to their regular food. If not, then you may want to see the vet to make sure it isn't a parasite. Also, make sure that she is getting fluids because it is so easy for these little ones to get dehydrated. I wish you luck and hope she feels better soon. |

| Thanks for the advise! I am feeding her chicken and rice. I am going to do it for rest of the week and then slowly ease her back into her dry food. Should I feed her Senior stage food? She is currently eating Fromm. Fromm Gold Holistic Reduced Activity & Senior Dry Dog Food, 33-lb bag |

How long has she been healthy since her last tummy issue, is this ongoing or something?

She is usually very healthy and I am not sure what is wrong with her tummy lately. Her last tummy problem was just a month ago! And all my friends are telling me it is because of her age. However, no one thinks she is 9 years old with her energy. I thought she was getting better yesterday with boiled chicken and rice diet until she was panting at 5AM this morning and alert me she has to go out. So I have not feed her anything yet this morning and wanted to clear up her tummy. I wonder if I should take her to vet or wait it out. And should I still feed her chicken and rice today? Or just give her water only?

| Sorry to hear she is still having tummy issues. If vomiting, I would hold food and let her system rest. If diarrhea, I would continue with the chicken and rice. If it has been going on for 3 days, I would see the vet. Age alone shouldn't cause this. There are differing opinions on the need for a senior diet. The old school of thought said that seniors need less protein. The new thinking is that seniors need just as much. I feed my boys Fromm Chicken a la veg. My Teddy will 6.5 years old. About once a year he has a bout of diarrhea that lasts 2 days. We've taken him to the vet each time and had bloodwork done just to make sure nothing else is going on. In his case, we think he picks things up on our walks because we are very cautious and limited with diet. Best wishes for Chloe. Keep us posted.

She has not vomit since the first night. Now it is just mostly diarrhea. I wonder if she pick up something in this new area during her walk. One of my Yorkie friend suggested to give her baby food. What do you guys think? I worry Chicken and Rice are not enough food and nutrition for her. She has not eaten since late last night. And she is giving me the "Mommy, where is my food?" and with the puppy eye look...

Some people use baby food. Just be careful to avoid those with added salt or onion powder. My personal preference is just the chicken and rice.

I think I will fast her till tonight or tomorrow morning. So it will help clear up her stomach. Has anyone given Pepto Bismol to the dog? Chloe is 7 lbs and I wonder if I could give me some human medicine for upset stomach?
