YorkieTalk Newbie! | new member...9 year old female spayed Yorkie w/Tummy Issues Hello...need some advice from yorkie mom's and dad's out there.... I adopted an approx 9 year old yorkie with stomach issues. A few weeks ago I had to take to the vet for diarrhea....she had no fever and no parasites. She was put on Hills Prescriptioni Diet Digestive Care. She has been eating well, her poops also improved but still not as firm as I would like. Anyway, a few days ago her poop started to change a little loose, then normal, and very thin. Saturday Dec. 5 she was fine but did not want to eat...I tried feeding her by hand and she took a few bites. I gave her one tsp of nutravet anti-D hoping it would help...maybe I made it worse.... So this morning I tried a little cheese and she went for it, so I hand fed her some prescription food, I added for the first time Digestive Enzymes....she has vomited twice this morning...thinking it's the enzymes...she is not a vomiter her problem before taking her to the vet has been loose stool. If this continues by tomorrow I will take her to the vet. She has never been active dog, she has been sleeping but her eyes are bright and she seems alert. Thanks for reading this.... |

| Well, I'm sure there are as many reasons for diarrhea and vomiting as there are posters so you're bound to get a variety of responses. Were the tummy troubles a known issue with your girl when you adopted her? I've got a little 3 year old rescue male here that was diagnosed with IBS/IBD. His symptoms were also diarrhea, vomiting and no appetite. He has had a few flare ups, but they are mostly triggered by stress. His digestive system was a mess when we first adopted him last year but as he settled in and got more comfortable it resolved on it's own. He has horrible storm anxiety, and when our summer rainy season hit it flared back up and we finally got a diagnosis. Our vet put him on Budesonide, and after a month we were able to slowly wean him off the meds over another month or so. He's doing great now, but it's really not curable, just maintainable. Hopefully it's an issue that is much less complex for your girl and your vet will be able to figure it out soon. Good luck. I hope she feels better soon. Diana |
