| Prayers needed,,,, Hi all, it's been quite a while since I posted. I have extremely busy with work and growing family. I am asking for any advise and prayers. Leiloni had 3 seizures yesterday. I was not home when she had the first one. My husband call me to tell me that Leiloni was choking and foaming from her nose and mouth. He didn't know what to do so he picked her up to give her a little shake and try to see what she was choking on. She snapped out of it and said she was ok and back to acting normal. He even gave her water which she did drink. I even made him FaceTime me so I can see for myself that she was ok. When I got home she was happy to see me so I figured she did choke and what ever it was went down. We sat to eat dinner and she was at our feet begging like she always does. All of a sudden I heard a strange noise coming from under that table so I take a look at seen her foaming so I grabbed her up and could clearly tell she was having a seizure. So straight to the emergence vet we go. The seizure lasted a good few minutes which freaked me out! We get there and they rush her to the back. She stopped seizing but was not right. They did blood work which all came back normal. Which tells us that she probably ingested something toxic. They kept her over night so they can give her fluids and monitor her. She did have another episode when they were putting in her IV around 9:30 last night. Since then she has not had another and seems to be completely normal. Has anyone ever gone through something like this? I called her regular vat and they said it could be anything. And to bring her in if I was still concerned. I decided to not take her in and stress her out since she was doing so good. Is there any thing else I should be testing her for? She seems fine now but can't handle seeing my baby going through another episode.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh my gosh how very scary for you all ! I don't know any answers for this as seizures can come from so many things. I just am wishing you the very best with your precious one.

| Three seizures in a short time period is concerning. Did they put her on any meds at all or advise you to watch her for now and bring her back if there are more? It often is very difficult to ascertain what the cause of seizures is. How old is she?

She is 2 1/2 yes I was thinking the same thing. I called her vet and he said to keep an eye on her and to bring her in if she has another one. Blood work were all normal. I checked every inch of her body for any spider bites and couldn't feel or see anything. If she i guested anything poisonous wouldn't she be throwing up and have diarrhea? Her bowel moments are normal. I just don't get it. Her last seizure was there at the ER at 3:30 when they were putting her IV in. Could it be stress related? And if so why all of a sudden?

She is young so it could be a toxin (even in the absence of other symptoms) or even epilepsy is now showing up. I just had a pup have two seizures over a weekend...about three weeks ago. None since. He is much older and the advice was the same...keep an eye on it. His blood work was also normal. The suspicion with him is a brain lesion. One of our foster pups was turned over to a vet hospital (that is how he ended up with us) seizing. He was only 3 months old. His seizures went on for three days and there were SO many. Ended up fine in the end...it was crazy. He is no longer on meds and has been seizure free for months now. Just so many possibilities. As for stress....it won't necessarily cause seizures but could bring them on in a dog that is prone to having one. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted.

| You might want to ask your vet about doing bile acid testing. The fact her blood work was ok lends me to think since her ammonia level was not high they don't suspect a liver shunt. I would probably want it done anyway for my own satisfaction. It's a relatively inexpensive test (around $80). Yorkies are prone to liver shunts, so it is always a thought.

| What about any flea meds you have given....I have had several dogs seize after using flea meds years ago....especially flea collars.....have you changed or using any different medicated shampoos or sprays.....any treatments around the house for insects or spraying the yard with insecticides/fertilizers? With all her bloodwork coming back normal, perhaps something she has gotten into out in the yard...... |

Seizures are scary...and yes, you are helpless when they happen. Again, hope you don't experience any more.

| Both er and my vet said they've seen this many times. The assistant at the ER said her dog had 2 seizures in 1 day when her Che was 2 and is now 7 and never had another since. What freaks me out is Leiloni seemed completely normal before I left and even after the first seizure. I wasn't here when it happened but when I came home she seemed good. After the second one is where she was out of it. She wouldn't walk, and wasn't very alert. When I seen her for the last time before leaving her she was more alert but still didn't seem like her self. By morning she was acting like nothing had ever happened. A mystery with a happy ending. Just as long as it stays that way!

| Praying for your beautiful Leiloni and you that the seizures were just an aberration and that they won't occur again. Not dog related -- my nephew had a few really bad seizures when he was 9 years to 11 years old. He had CTs, MRIs, and every test imaginable, saw numerous specialists. Nothing was ever found. He is almost 18 now and has not had another episode.

| Seizure free since Monday night! I have tried to keep from rough play and really tring to reduce the stress level. Poor baby wanted to play last night. One of her favorite toys is a old hair roller. Don't ask me why but she loves it. Anyway she was tossing it up in the are running around in circles and bringing to me to play fetch. It warmed my heart to see her playing. We made it a short play session. I my be over reacting but I'm still really freaked out.
