| Weird blue dot on Sophie's belly So I was just rubbing Sophie's belly tonight and saw this weird triangle of scab things. It isn't bothering her (well, it wasn't until I started trying to look at it) and she didn't flinch when I tried to squeeze the darker spots to see if they were just clogged pores. It seems like the black parts would come out and then slip back in - but I have stubby fingers and couldn't get a hold of them. I think this is her spay incision line and the dot looks the same colour as the stitches our vet uses, but she was spayed January 2010 so I don't think that would be the case. It wasn't red until I started trying to rub it off/squeeze it out. My husband thinks she is fine to wait until her annual vaccines on Oct. 19 but I am freaking out. I have never noticed it before but I don't know if that is because it wasn't there or because I have just never noticed it. Has anyone had this or seen this or have any ideas? Would waiting until her annuals like my husband wants be okay or should I take her in sooner than that? I took the picture as best as I could. The blue spot is closest to my thumb and the black thing furthest away is what I was trying to squeeze out. |

| I forgot to mention that I was concerned about ringworm at first. But she has absolutely no hair loss and the redness showed up after I started messing around with the bumps. |

| I can't see the picture very well but where is she from? Some shelters put dots or lines on bellies to show the dog has been spayed. My chorkie has a green line. |

| I got her from a breeder (not a good one) when she was 8 weeks old and our vet was the one that fixed her. I just looked again in the light and the blue is right on top of her spay incision scar and the other marks are on it as well. There is a little redness around her belly, but nothing that looks unusual and she isn't scratching at it and is still bugging me for belly rubs! |

| If her spay wasn't 5 years ago I would say it's suture material! Do you have children? My son drew on his cat with marker once....strange indeed.

Nope, no children...just the pets! So my husband came home and looked at it in person and apparently he is pretty sure that it has always been there. So maybe I am just being paranoid? I plan to keep an eye on it but I think if it isn't bothering her I will wait until her annual appointment.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I doubt it's anything too troublesome, it looks pretty benign to me - perhaps just a clogged pore or something. If it were me and didn't look like much, I'd probably wait until their next appt.

Senior Yorkie Talker | About a year ago I had Chloe spayed, and they put a green dot above the incission, and it was flakey for awhile, it is not as bright as it was before, but still there abit. When she was spayed they told me they put a green tatoo above the incission. Maybe that's it, but if you don't think so, just to be on the safe side ask your vet. |

That was what I was going to suggest....It could also be suture that was used to do the stitching on the inside tissue, from inside out, to close the spay incision....not all suture will dissolve, and that may have been what was used....?
