Please Help me :( First time poster but long time viewer of yorkietalk. I have a 7 year old yorkie (Fyndi) and about 2 years ago she stepped in some weeds and got a "sticker" in her paw between her pads. The vet removed it and gave her antibiotics and wrapped her up. She healed completely with in a week or so. Well about 2 weeks ago I noticed her limping when I woke up and noticed her paw was swollen up a bit. I assumed it was the same situation (which she is no longer allowed in certain areas) so we took her to the vet right away. They said they couldn't find anything in there so they just gave here medicine and antibiotics . it took a bit longer for the swelling of her paw to go down after a second visit to get different antibiotics. I have been checking her paw every day and noticed she is licking it a lot again... she seems to walk on it fine but I think it is hurting her a bit. the swelling did go down but now she has a darker colored bump on her paw that is not going away at all. I am really starting to get scared and the vet seems to know nothing . They did an xray on it and said there is nothing in there but now im worried for the worst. Wonder if she needs a biopsy or if I should wait to see if it goes away??? If there is any help or advice it would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you so much!

My own personality does not have a "wait and see" mode....I would return to the vet and get this diagnosed and treated. I like definitive diagnostic outcomes....if my vet could not come up with what the issue was, I would get to a specialist, or a vet school for a diagnosis and treatment.

SUPER!!!! Please keep us posted about the outcome and what the new vet said....we do care and are interested! Is there a vet school affiliated with a University that is closer to you? Since they are a teaching facility, vet schools usually have the most up to date equipment and resources and specialist.

| I wonder if it could be some kind of bite or allergy. I definitely would get a second opinion. I hope its nothing terrible.

Vet Schools I've been following Yorkie Talk for over a year now. Everyone on here is always very helpful. I too live in a rural area and a vet school is not even within 3 hours of me. I believe strongly in utilizing every avenue available but sometimes it's not possible and very frustrating. If anyone on here has a good repor with a professor at one of the vets that would be willing to field questions via email and also they could use these cases as teaching tools for their students it would be a great asset to this forum. If I was near a school I would definitely try to set this up for this forum. Just a thought. I'm grateful for all of you on here and pray for all your babies. I've been helped and the advice I received saved my Gidget and me. Paws across your heart. Thanks.
