| Vomiting for 2 days now My girl has been vomiting since yesterday, foamy, yellowish color, mostly liquid. She didn't eat much during the day but did eat last night. She had ALOT of treats at the trainer Sunday and I figured it was because of that. But I'm concerned that we are going on day 2 now. She does get up and play off and on, so I'm not sure if she just needs time to get something out of her system, or if we need to go to the vet. Advice please! |

| Two days of vomiting treats or not is not normal, vomiting causes dehydration in small breed dogs. I would get this baby to the vet today, she may need anti bacterial meds. to settle her stomach. Better to be safe then sorry.

| We just went through that with our little guy. He has terrible storm anxiety and after a big storm with lots of thunder and lightning, he woke up Sunday morning refusing to eat, and vomited bile several times. His even had a few flecks of bright red blood in it. Off to the vet we went. Our vet wasn't too concerned about the blood because it was bright red. She said he probably just ruptured a few little capillaries in his stomach from heaving. But she was concerned about the vomiting, because he was already slightly dehydrated. He got a CBC, a CPL to rule out pancreatitis, a dose of sub q fluids, and some Zofran to settle his tummy and stop the vomiting. Today he is back to normal. Small dogs dehydrate very quickly, which is the dangerous part. I would head in to see the vet. Better safe than sorry. Diana |

| Thanks all! She just ate and drank. She's playing around right now. I'm going to watch her closely and if it happens again we are going to the vet. |

| Be careful with dehydration. I have a 17 pound yorkie who threw up only a few times and was dehydrated and needed fluids.

| Lilah had an episode somewhat recently as well, in less than 48 hrs she had lost six ounces and the girl is only 4.6 normally! I called in to work and we rushed to the vet, she needed sub q fluids and electrolytes- and for the record I had been giving her small amounts of plain pedialyte at home, offering her pedialyte ice cubes with wet food frozen in the middle and spoon feeding her whatever she would take of wet food. We did blood work and ran a test for pancreatitis. It was ultimately considered gastroenteritis. 'Nothing' was really wrong and she didn't needs meds but with all that vomiting her fluids were down, her electrolytes were out of whack and that dramatic weight loss was terrifying! She had also had a little over dose of treats playing model for overindulgent mama. I am glad we took her- as it is said, these little loves can go down fast. They are fierce but small and fragile. I hope your baby is doing better.

| Sick baby So very sorry to hear your baby feels bad. That diagnosis is scary and I have been through that. As your dog is relatively young, praying that the diseases were caught early enough to treat. The IVs will perk him/her up and hopefully hydration and diet/meds will keep your baby healthy. Please let us know what the vet says and how your dog is doing. |

| Sick dog I feel for you with that diagnosis. I have been along that path and my dog too was fine and in three days seriously ill. It is such a shock to have this happen, but he is in the right place and being treated well, and I hope you get good news when you call tomorrow. Praying for you and your baby, I know the pain you are feeling now. Warm thoughts and hugs. Xxxx |

| Bones22, I have also been where you are with my yorkie having a case of pancreatitis that affected both his liver and kidneys. Getting over the hump with the pancreatitis was the worst part, but he was fragile for a few months. Eventually the liver and kidney numbers did go back to normal and he did not have lasting damage. The best place for your baby right now is in the hospital getting continuous IV fluids. Please let us know how he is tomorrow. Will be sending positive thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. | Vomitting for 2 days now Spoke with vet,,bad report,, pancreatitis very bad, going in 1400 for consultation/options. Over the phone he was very nice but also i felt there is no hope for my little guy,, being retired cop from sw detroit area you can not imagine how hard this is,,advised over the phone that with feeding tubes and syringe feeding we could continue but was not coming across as real optimistic. |
