| worried Hi folks. First post here. My yorkie got up this morning and everything was normal. He went to the bathroom and was good to go.Now a few hours later it seems like he's got pain and will yelp. i tried to check him and his belly seems fine but i think he's got a big poop stuck right at his bottom. i tried to look but he was yelping a lot when i did. I don't want to jump the gun and take him to the very right away if there's something else i can try as i don't have money to pay the vet with.Anyone ever had the same problem? thanks. |

| I would put him in a tub of warm water and hold a wet warm cloth to the area. If that isn it you might need to take him to the vet. I had that happen with my Llasa before.

How old is your Yorkie? Sometimes the tinier the dog, the more care and attention is needed for the rear end. If your dog is young and small, be sure to check him daily or after each poop to make sure things are clean and clear back there. A warm bath and wash cloth help. Anal glands can also cause pain for dogs of any size or age. Sometimes the glands just need to be emptied. The glands can also become infected and burst. Medical attention is definitely needed then for the glands to be emptied and an antibiotic prescribed. If you need assistance paying vet bills, look into Care Credit. Only takes a minute over the phone to be approved.

| 1 teaspoon of natural canned pumpkin (no sugar and not the pie filling) can help diarrhea and constipation, that's what I used for my pups and it has worked every time along with a warm bath. I wouldn't wait too long before a vet visit if the pain isn't resolved. Some vets offer private payment plans you should call around. |

| Please take a minute to let us know how this pup is doing and what was wrong. It will help our general knowledge base, and it is only polite since so many caring people took the time to try and help you with your problem.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How is this pup doing? Better? If this is an anal gland issue or constipation issue, you may want to switch foods. What are you feeding?

| I'd suggest you bring him to the vet if you're not sure what the problem is. Avoid self-medication since dogs are not human and can talk what they really feel. I hope he gets well soon! Australian Simplified Messaging Service |
