| Itching and Hair loss 😢 Hello Yorkie Family!! I have a 7 month old Yorkie Chi (Yorkie and Chihuahua). Her mother was full bred. I've been having issues with her itching and hair loss since she was four months old. She's been on antibiotics and steroids because the vet recommended that was what she needed. A recent vet visit diagnosed her with demodex mites and she was given a skin scrape as well as a dip. I dint complete the remaining 5 dips because the first one had her extremely delusional and out of it for about a week. I got ride of the mites with Ted's Cure (Borax, hydrogen peroxide, and warm water solution). Her hair started growing back (with minimal shedding) and itching was practically gone. I started using Dermacton natural soap and cream to help the healing process. About a week or so I noticed one flea at bath time. She then started to itch intensely and her hair started to thin on her body. She would also nip at the base of her tail. Confused as to why the itching has reoccurred and why she's shedding. This is my first puppy and I love her so much. I'm 26 without any children ☺️ Soo she's my baby. I just want to get her back to her normal self. I feel as though I've failed us both 😢 |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi and welcome to YT . So sorry to hear about your baby...the skin conditions sound miserable. The unfortunate thing about demodex/mites is that the mites can actually BURROW and live underneath the skin, causing severe ongoing problems. So, she still could very well have the mites. I'd be heading back to the vet to get a skin biopsy to see if the mites have gone under the skin. Also, she may have a flea allergy. If I were you with these severe of issues, I'd go to a Vet Derm asap as they will get you squared away properly, as compared to a generalist. Vet Derms are excellent!
