| TEXANS!!!Flea and tick fiasco!',,,, Help! I'm so stressed and upset! So let's start off I am at my witss end I'm hopping to get an appointment with the vet tommmarow I called tonight and left a voice mail p. Hopefully they can squeeze me in. So I am from Arizona, tucson arizona. Have had Yoshi bear the 2nd there for 3 years never gave her any heart worm or flea and tick preventative. She was fine I never had any problem with it. About a 2 weeks ago I moved to auatin tx. Now I know that there I will have a problem with this. so before I moved got here tested for heart worm and put her on a preventative right away. Then I got frontline plus and out that on her. So I was so happy thought I was covereed well to my dismay and horror a few days after moving into austin I was cuddling the love angel and felt something ahead like a bump well it was a tick and I was repulsed and shaking but I managed to get it out. I went to the vet the very next day he gave me some topic steroid and animicrobial spray for the bite and removed what was left of the tick. He told me that sometimes frontline is not very effective. He suggest I use nex guard he told me to give it to her that day I did . I was happy the whole ordeal was over and she was now protected. Well about a week later today actually I found something crawling in her fur. It took me for ever to get it out because it jumped so fast and was so small I think it is a flea. I cleaned her up and washed her with flea shampoo.but I really at my wits end here I didn't know what to do any suggestions please!! anything will help I have never dealt with this before and it seems every thing I do goes wring I just want to protect my baby. Thanks so much sorry for the rant just aooooooooo stressed and worried.

| You may want to ask your vet about Comfortis. it's a chewable tablet that kills fleas and prevents flea infestations for a month. Make sure you get the one that kills eggs, larva, baby fleas and adults. Since you just used Frontline make sure you remind the vet of this. I have used Comfortis in the past on my other now passed babies, it is very effect full. Be very careful of the flea shampoo you use, I would also speak to the vet about the shampoo, you don't want to over medicate your baby. If you give Comfortis there is no need for flea shampoo. Please tell the vet everything you have used on your baby before you give Comfortis. Hopefully other Texans will be along to offer up what they do.

YT 1000 Club Member | Hello! My family is currently stationed in Texas and yes bugs are abundant! We have our yard sprayed every month for fleas and ticks, use sentinel(hw and flea combo), wash all fabric that the pups have been in contact with weekly(dry on high heat when you can), and steam clean carpets. Good luck! |

| If you want a topical flea and tick preventative...I use Advantix II which repels fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. It is what I use for Bentley and my Boxer.

| My two are on K9 Advantix II right now. I have recently started splitting the dose between them, but I would definitely recommend the full dose if you are having problems. I've also used Sentinel, but it just breaks the life cycle. I wouldn't recommend it if you have an infestation.

| Dawn I live in Tennessee where bugs are bad too. See a flea wash your baby with Dawn dish soap to kill quickly. Vet recommended. Comfortis works here for my baby. No topicals use a pill chewable. My baby gets her's administered by my vet friend each month because she is so little and he cares. You want to kill the crawlers but the ones inside too. I'll try to find out tomorrow the exact name and post for you. She is tick, flea and heart worm free. Tennessee is also very bad for these varmints and its recommended treatment all year long. Dawn does work for a quick fix. Just think they use it on birds to remove the oil from spills. Just be careful of their little eyes. Safe for family and home also. Good luck. |

YT 3000 Club Member | I use flea busters powder in my place the best way to get rid of fleas inside, it stays in your carpet for a year. The powder is messy but it works great. Comfortis kills adults fleas before they hatch, give with food if this is what you decide it can make them sick. I would think of revolution, covers heart worm, fleas, mites, aand I think American dog tick. I never use flea stuff, rarely have a flea with the powder. Flea shampoo can be toxic to the little ones. Good luck |

| Both Trifexis and Comfortis have worked wonderfully. Trifexis also kills Heart worms. My Vets office says they have an injectable which is supposed to work for 6 months. With the fleas here in NC and my Teasell being flea allergic I have to make sure she gets what she needs. |
