| My 14 year old babyteacup Yorkie Bella Is anyone having the trauma of what I am going through with my baby. She is almost totally blind or close to it, can barely hear, kidney issues, high blood pressure, and now they think has something called vestibular disease. It causes her to walk like shes falling over. They said no options for that. She's jumping and started doing this since her sight was starting to go. Today it's so bad her head jumping everytime I go near her. Shes going to the vet again tom. she has an anal gland issue which may be a tumor. I wanted to know others advice about how to prepare myself for what may be coming up soon. Each time I think I can try to I break down. Its my only family member and she has gotten me through cancer and a lung disease. I need some guidance or support. I would greatly appreciate it. |

| I'm sorry you and you fur baby are going through this. It's one of the hardest things in having pets :-( we went through this a few years ago with our Cassie. She was diagnosed with bone cancer and within a month was gone. She was 13 years old. Vestibular is hard because there is no cure. You must be very vigilant watching her and keeping her safe....crating her when you are not around so she doesn't hurt herself. You must think of quality of life for your little girl...your vet will let you know if they feel she is suffering.

| I had to put my 17 y/o girl down Oct 1, 2013, it seems like it was just yesterday, She was blind, and I would say totally deaf, but he ate and had no potty issues other then making where ever she was, she was playful in a new way as she could not see nor hear. Then one day she would not eat, she didn't eat for two days, off to the vet where she stayed for 7 days with IV. I just cannot write all that happened, after 7 days of promising reports she would be coming home, day 7 I received a call to come in and say my good byes, I had to put her down. I did not have to make that choice, a higher being did that for me. I was devastated. Your vet, or your baby will let you know when it's her time to leave you. It's never easy, and were are never prepared even knowing the time may be coming soon, but you have to do what is best for your baby. Stay strong, you will do the right thing when that time comes. keeping you and Bella in my prayers. (((HUGS)))

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Your baby is just gorgeous. I'm so sorry she has illnesses and that you're having to face these tough decisions. Your heart will tell you when it's time...and I think she will too. My heart really goes out to you, it's so hard to lose a beloved pet-child.

| Your Bella is a gorgeous little girl. I can tell how much she means to you and how much you love her. I am so sorry to hear that she is so very sick. I believe that you will know when it is time; that she will tell you when she is ready to go. I had to put my oldest dog to sleep 2 years ago this week. She was deaf, going blind, had trouble walking, didn't have any control over her bowels, but she still was eating until 2 days before the end. For about six months, everyone kept telling me that it was time to let her go but I said that she would tell me when it was time. It's so hard to face that that time might be near because it is so hard to lose our loved ones. I came home from work one night and let her out to pee and she just fell over and couldn't get up. I ran her right to the vets and they told me that she had had a massive stroke and probably wouldn't last the night. I had to make the decision to let her go. I still wasn't ready for it even though I had known the day was coming and I would have to let her go when she told me she was ready. I hope that something can be done to help Bella so that you will still have time left with her. Spend every precious moment you can with Bella and store up all of the memories that you two make together. They will last you a long time.

| Thank you Thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement. I brought Bella in yesterday to the vet and was told the gland was healing and it didn't look like a tumor. However after showing her a new video I took of her head bobbing up and down, the vet says something neurological is going on. It could be a brain tumor etc etc. I'm waiting till my reg. vet gets back in a week to see if I should take her to a neurologist. But at this point they wouldn't do surgery anyway. Shes been eating but not her dog food. noodles, etc. whatever I can get her to eat. I was crying in the vets office as I've been all week but shes doing a bit better thank goodness. The vet said she thinks she can see a bit of light but its hard to tell. I think you all are right I hope with the vet and myself I will know when it is time. I thought it was but I don't think so yet. This is as hard as when my mom died! I know some people would think that's crazy but for me it's about the same. |

| I'm glad she is doing better. Poor little baby. She is adorable. I know how hard it is, I am sorry you are going through this. You are not crazy. I loved my mom so much, she was my best friend, but it is equally hard for me to lose one of my babies.

| Bellarena: I am so sorry about your baby. My little girl is all the family I have too, so I can relate to your fear about losing her or letting her suffer. Emma is wishing you well, and your baby well. Will hold you in prayer. Emma's Mom |

| I was wondering if the head bobbing might be a symptom of something else. When the liver is not functioning well, some ammonia in their system can cross the blood brain threshold, and cause them to do that. I saw it a lot in Bella before we realized that she had a liver shunt.
