| Luxtating petellar Hi everyone. My dog was diagnosed with this problem a free years ago but I never got surgery because he was still running and jumping and full of energy. The past few days he has been limping and just wanting to sit and lay down all day. He will walk to go to the bathroom or to go drink but he doesn't run he favors his back leg. I will see a vet but was wondering what you guys think If surgery is needed I will get it just didn't want to put him through it unless absolutely necessary |

| The best advice I ever followed was consulting with a board certified surgeon for Dinky's LP surgery. In our case the cost turned out to be less. Also, the specialist is very aware of changes in surgical techniques. He explained the recovery correctly. he does the surgery every day that his clinic is open. |

| Let us know what the vet says, but 6 years is not too old to have surgery. With my Bella, her LP was so bad that she would not put the affected leg down at all. The vet said that without surgery, arthritis would set in within one or two years. I'm glad I had the surgery done. Yours may not be as severe, but that's up to a specialist to determine. |

| Usually a Vet will recommend a surgeon. I know a Yorkie that had Leggs perth??? Lady at my Vet was in. My Vet does alot of Yokies. He recommended someone but also assisted. Do seems normal a year later. I'm not sure what Leggs is no first hand experience so I don't know how hard the surgery would be. But with any surgery you want someone who does them all the time. | Sasha had Legg-Perthes. It was explained to us as an interruption of blood flow to the femoral head. The bone dies and has to be removed. Sasha had the procedure done on March 4th and is doing well. She still limps when she goes into a full run but is getting stronger as time goes on. Hopefully by the 6 month mark she will be 100%. The amazing thing is they remove the femoral head and do not replace it with anything.

| It is not a minor surgery.

| My Cricket has been diagnosed with a luxating Patella. The vet says it's not an issue right now. The thing I worry about with Cricket is she has had a Liver shunt repaired and she has to be careful with annethesia.

| Hi everyone, I'm going to see if I can go to the vet tomorrow. It's just a walk in vet. He's not overweight he's about 7 lbs. I had him outside today and he will run around. He hops a little bit but when he stands he lifts that leg up |

| The vet said he definitely needs surgery. He is limping in his lef leg but he said the right is worse. He told me I don't have to rush it because the surgery can be expensive about $2500 per knee. He also told me he is limping because his knee popped out of the groove and it can pop back in and out so some days he will limp and some days he will walk fine. I am going to call another vet to see how much they charge for the surgery. |
