Diarrhea, vomiting....any new recalls on Diamond Pet Food? Our Hercules will be three in August. We got him at 5.5 months, and the breeder fed Diamond. We have continued him with the food since there was never any issue with him eating it. I bought him a new bag yesterday (small breed chicken and rice), and gave him some yesterday afternoon. He ate all of it, ate a small amount of his nighttime feed, but not much. He has been scratching like mad, laying around and quiet, and now throwing up twice. It looks like scrambled eggs. He's had diarrhea twice and its creamy greenish yellow, a tad jelly like, smells our entire upstairs. I've called diamond, and of course they have had no other calls. Their vet is supposed to call me back, and I've left a message for our vet to see if I should bring him in. Does this sound like a possible food issue? I do live in Ohio and dog flu has been in the area, but he isn't around other dogs.

Diamond If it is a new bag it does seem like it could well be the food. Diamond foods has had it issues in tha past. I have found that due to poor quality control some foods do vary with a new bag. I would expect the vet to want to see your dog and do tests to see if anything is wrong. Could you get a fecal sample to take in if you go? Hope your boy feels better soon. Perhaps you could feed him a vet recommended GI food until he is better and then change over slowly to a more reliable food? You could take the bag back for a refund too.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If this happened only after the new bag of food, I too would be concerned and would probably feed something else...even if it's just chicken and rice or potato for a while. How is he doing today?

I'm sorry your little Hercules has become sick so suddenly. Poor guy, with the symptoms you've described it does sound like a issue with the food. Hoping Hercules feeling better, please let us know.

He's been eating boiled chicken Nd rice since yesterday, and although he hates it, he seems to be doing better. We saw him shake a baby bunny to death tonight, and found another in the yard last night that was dead. Could that be what's giving him gi issues? We just moved to this house in February, and killing baby bunnies is a first for us

Hercules. Glad he is doing better on the chicken and rice diet. Did he see the vet and if so what was his suggestion for your dog's issues? If Hercules is catching bunnies perhaps you could take him out on a leash? Eating bunnies is probably not good for him as you suggest. Hope Hercules is well again soon. Thanks for the update.

Our vet told us to give him 24 hours before we brought him in, unless he seemed dehydrated or was getting worse. He isn't eating the bunnies at all, just chasing them and shaking them. We aren't sure if he's trying to kill them, or trying to play and they end up dead.

Glad he is not eating the bunnies, but hope you can keep them and Hercules apart. Poor bunnies. I know they do damage in the garden, but it is a horrible way to die. Did the vet suggest what to feed after he is feeling better on the chicken and rice? A difficult decision as to whether you go back to the new bag!?! If this happens again to Hercules it might be good to get tests for him in case he has GI issues. Hope that doesn't happen and that he is a well and happy dog from now on. Again thank for your reply.
